So we’ve finally decided to get married at my fiance’s house in the country. It’s the cheapest, and most lovely option. The house is fairly secluded, huge and Victorian, and we’ll be married outdoors in the snow. i was thinking of making a burgundy aisle runner and platform for us and the bridal party to stand on during the ceremony with some velvet, plywood and good old DIY. There’s a tree (bare by then) which we’ll get married near, and I was thinking of hanging a few antique looking ornaments on the branches for a bit of color and charm? Also I was considering renting a black antique lamp post- I think it would look beautiful in photos! Is it a good idea? And anyone have any other suggestions? Our colors are burgundy, black and pewter.

Ooh lots and lots of fairy lights – think you call them that too? Little christmas lights? And candles, loads of those too. What time is your ceremony at? And will you be able to see the ceremony sitefrom the reception site? I have to say that sounds lovely.
Even if you bought lots of really cheap ornaments and sprayed them pewter.. I found a lovely tutrial somewhere for mercury-look glass, or something similar… I’ll have a root, see if I can find it, sounds like it would fit your look

I had it saved as a word doc, for no apparent reason, and can’t remember where I found it, but this looks pretty much the same.

We had an outdoor wedding and used shepherds hooks with lanterns from Ikea on them. They were simple, classy and yet not too girly. I didn’t want too much decoration at our ceremony so they were perfect.

That sounds SUPER romantic! I’d second the fairy lights or perhaps candles in hurricane lamps or big vases down the sides of your runner? I love the thought of a winter wedding! Sadly it never snows here!

What if you put white lights in the trees??? Candles like the PP’s said.

I definitely vote for loads of candles as well..put them in various size jars/glasses/hurricane glasses! Also, I would dangle ornaments, votive holders (with candles in them), and strings of crystals from the tree. I think it’ll be beautiful!!!
