My fiance and I have hired a sitter to be at our house to watch kids for parents who wish to attend our reception child free. For our own kids, she charges $5 per hour for the first kid, and $1 per hour for each additional kid.
Would this also be appropriate for her for the reception? That doesn’t seem like enough. I’ve also asked her to find a responsible friend for me to interview because I don’t want her to have anymore than 4 children by herself (depending on the age).
Any advice would be helpful.

I would pay extra for something like that. Her rates are really low so I would pay her what she asks for and then when it is all said and done any extra money you have that’s not needed soon after I would give to her. If you get a friend of hers to help as well then of course double what you give so it can be split and also depending on how many kids they watch and how old they are should also be factored in. I have a child of my own and I used to babysit so I understand how hard it is. Be reasonable with what you give her because I have never met anyone who asked for such a small amount.

Wow that is one cheap babysitter! I used to charge 10 bucks an hour for 3 kids and parents told me I was a steal! I would probably pay her a flat rate for the night. I helped a friend do something similar (it was for a 50th birthday party though) and the host paid us 200 bucks (100 each for the night). Came out to about 20 bucks an hour. There were a lot of kids though.
