@lazy: I’m a makeup artist.  Hands down get a trial run!  Everyones style is different and everyones point of reference is different.  Your “made up” might be their “made under” and vice versa.  Even if you go one week before… try to find a good rated MUA, look for recommendations, and then go with lots of pics, but please please please get a trial run!  You dont want her having to fix a ton of little things you dont like on the day of your wedding when you will be stressed out enough as is, and worse yet if she’s taking off and re applying your skin, especially around the eyes, can get raw.  Please try to fit a trial in, OR if you are at all feeling confident, look up some you tube tutorials and do it yourself.  I definitely would not book a MUA or a hair stylist just for the day of without having them see me first and get to work on me.

@lazy:  Thats why, if you can, I would do lots of research and try to get word of mouth recommendations for a good mua and hair in your area.  Im only going for one hair trial, and because she comes highly recommended by someone I trust, I really dont have a fear of the work they will do because they are well versed at the salon for bridal hair.  So you need to find people like that, who can do bridal hair and makeup in their sleep!  If you supply them with photos of exactly what you are looking for that also takes the guesswork out of their day.  More time to perfect your look.  I always asked my clients a bunch of questions about their wedding day to envision their style… what their dress looked like, reception venue, evening or day, and also if you can email a pic of your face with no makeup that might help them out too when it comes to makeup.  Be honest and tell them exactly what you want.  If you have a vision of having luscious lashes or eyes that pop, tell them, and if you want a more demure look, polished, fresh faced, it will really put them in the mind set for whats in store.

@lazy:  In her defense.. sometimes it IS hard to get some after pics of your brides, because after they see you as a mua they are usually whisked away.  And of you do get pics its from your point and shoot camera, because they never think to send you some nice pro pics for the after shots!  LOL
