So I went to a store, tried them all and just couldn’t find something ‘right’.
So I opted for a Koala Bed (box bed in australia) they have 120 day returns which I thought was amazing, and I have never slept on something more comfortable,

    So we’re keeping it!

We just went to a store and laid on everything! We have a traditional bed with a pillow topper, I love it. It’s considered a medium firmness I believe. My parent’s have memory foam, bed in a box beds at their house and I hate them. It feels like sleeping on a rock to me. But to each their own. We have a box spring with our king, not sure if it’s normal to be without one?

We have a tempur pedic memory foam and I have a hard time being comfortable on anything else now. It was an adjustment for about the first week or so because it’s much firmer than anything I’d ever slept on. We used to wake up with terrible back pain and that no longer occurs. We’ve had it for about 4 years now. I believe our king size was around 3k?

We are planning on getting a cotton stuffed mattress that is wrapped with wool as a temperature regulator. The brand we are looking at is on Amazon at under 1k for King size and made in Portland. It’s technically a futon type mattress which is not an option on your poll but might be worth looking into!

I went to the store and laid on a bunch. But I have a bad back and I need something super firm. I ended up buying a floor model that they had just gotten in (hadn’t even been put on the floor yet) but the thread was the old color insted of the new color or something like that. It was just a queen but I got it for $400 including tax and delivery. It worked out!

We have the Leesa and love it! It’s great quality at the price, and works for both of us. I like firm, my husband likes soft. Look it up on Amazon.

teacher-bee-in-the-sea :  I don’t know if it’s just our area, but we have a ton of mattress stores around so we picked a Saturday to shop around and test some out. I think we were on our third store when we found one that we just kept going back to and had to have it. We have a queen sized bed because our bedroom is small (old house) and paid approximately $1000. It’s been a year and a couple months and I still can’t get over how comfortable our bed is and I never want to get out in the morning, which can be a bad thing sometimes lol Our mattress is kind of a hybrid as it has a layer of cooling gel on top, but we still have a box spring. It’s from a local manufacturer and I can’t think of the name right now. Definitely money well spent!

I have had two Stearns and Foster king mattresses which I really like. The last one, with tax/delivery etc was between $5,000 and $6,000 I think. We have some other mattresses that are in the same range – pretty sure one is Tempurpedic which I do not like.

We are madly in love with our Casper. I think we paid about $1k for it, but they had a 6mo, no interest financing offer that we took advantage of.

teacher-bee-in-the-sea :  memory foam doesn’t give any spring back like a traditional mattress. And as you get bigger you’ll want a little bouncy-help to get out of bed! lol

We absolutely LOVED the Aireloom mattress (Preferred line) we saw at a store but the $5K+ price tag was not in our budget since we had just moved. We ended up with a Brentwood Home hybrid mattress (Oceano) for about $2300 and it’s fantastic; it’s similar in both construction and feel to the Airloom. Bonus: our dog love it too! Sunday afternoon naps are now a family event.

Went to Mattress Firm and got some Black Label hybrid (can’t remember the brand) but ended up exchanging it for a super plush pillow top Stearns & Foster. Well, come to find out it’s actually too soft and hurts my back. Lol. Mattress shopping is HARD!!!

Also, it’s a king size and I got one of those metal frames that don’t require a box spring. Ordered it from Walmart. Haven’t had any issues and my bed isn’t 6 feet off the floor. Lol!
