Hi bees
I have my dress. How to I now pick a veil? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I’m trying to figure out the same thing! Are you wearing your hair up or down?
@Goofball: I think I want to have my hair down but my wedding is in December and I’m worried the weather will make it flat. IT’S SO DIFFICULT! what have you decided??
@linnylou_88: I’m a big fan of the drop veil, especially if your hair is going to be down, but you get the best effect from that one if you are planning on wearing it over your face.
My gown also has quite a bit of lace, and my veil has a little bit of sparkle to it (but not too much to take away from the gown).
I think cathedral length would look so lovely and romantic with the back/train of your dress!
I don’t know if that helps at all. Gorgeous dress by the way ๐
I’m wearing my hair down, (or just the sides pulled back) so it has to be at least elbow length so it’s longer than my hair. I don’t want a blusher and I don’t want anything poofy. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten. Your hairs about as long as mine which is why I asked if you we’re wearin it up or down. ๐ if I was wearing it up I’d probably go with a shoulder length.
@Rheagan: I tried on a fingertip length veil when I chose my dress- I didn’t even think about a longer veil! They can look so romantic. I assumed I wouldn’t have a veil covering my face but the bride at the wedding I went to yesterday had it covering her face (it was a Jewish wedding) and she looked like a princess!
I love your dress too, it has almost the same silhouette as mine.
@linnylou_88: Beautiful dress, love the lace, so pretty. I’d google image real brides in your dress to see what sort of styles you prefer and then try lots on with your dress.
@CatyLady: Thank you ๐ I cannot find a real bride anywhere! It’s driving me crazy!
@Goofball: Thank you! The real model in the stock photo is my fitness inspiration so I’ve got a tough road ahead of me!
@linnylou_88: Have you by any chance looked on pre-owned dress websites?
@linnylou_88: If it’s possible, I think trying on different veils with your dress would be a good place to start. First, I would try something with a lace trim, next I would try to something with a raw edge. I’m sure if the lace would compliment or compete with your current dress. A bird cage veil might even look nice with your dress.
@CatyLady: Ive looked on loads of pre-owned sites but no luck ๐
@greenidlady: A PP mentioned a cathedral length veil might look nice so I’m looking forward to trying that. I want something that compliments my dress rather than detract from it
@linnylou_88: That might be a good place to start. I wore a cathedral length veil, as well. I was going to wear a fingertip veil with a lace edge but it took away from my detailed bodice.
