I think you’re fine to just hang it, in the garment bag, in a dry place. Make sure you allow time to steam it before your big day!

I’ve read other places that you’re not supposed to let wedding dresses hang for long periods of time because it can cause the fabric to stretch and it can harm the shape of the dress.

I’ve heard the best way is to store it laying down, folded in a dress box with acid free paper. You can do a search through the forums for more detailed instructions and opinions. Smile

Try not to let the dress hang! If it is heavy it might lose shape after that much time due to the stress of gravity. You could get a dress box like lindseylouwho said. I bought mine about 2 years ago and have had mine laying flat in a guest bedroom at my FI’s mom’s house. We just have it wrapped in a dye free sheet in the garment bag. The dress store told me that after the satin is steamed for the wedding to then let it hang and place the sheet over it to protect from dust and discoloration.
