So I am making my cake topper ( a letter B ). I traced it out on thick cardboard, and cut it out.
I covered it in glue, and covered it in sparkles.
It has now dried and it has the look I want expect for the sparkles are still sort of falling off a bit, and I don’t want that on the cake.
Is there any kind of spray or paint that I can use on the letter B to seal the sparkles so they won’t fall off?
I can post a pic when I get home to show you what it looks like.
Thanks for any help!

You might want to go to Home Depot. You can purchase one of those waterproof clear sprays for bathroom items, or outdoor items.
It sounds as though it will come out real nice. Good luck with it.

I agree with Chela- or try shellack?
You might want to dip something else in sparkles and try the sealant on that instead of risking ruining your letters!

Thanks Ladies! I will go and try to find something.
I think clear acrylic paint would work as well, and I think the top of my cake will be fake anyways so won’t be that bad.
I will let you know how it turns out!

You can use a polyurathane (Not sure if I spelled that right) which will seal it and will give it an extra glossy coat just make sure it is completely dried!!!

Go to lowe’s or home depot, bring the letter to the paint dept, and ask the man or woman their how to seal it without destroying the glitter factor!

Forgot to mention the polyurethane (thanks bellenga) comes in a spray that you can get at Michaels or Joann Fabrics. 🙂

The thing about polyurethane and clear acrylic paint is that it may cause cloudyness on the glitter reducing the sparkle. Plus if it puddles in some areas it’ll dry cloudy in those spots too. I would paint the letter in a color that is slightly darker or even the color of the glitter. This is so the gaps in the glitter won’t be too offensive on the eyes. I would use acrylic craft paint. Then use Modge Podge Glue (also found in a craft store) to coat it and cover generously in glitter. Modge Podge dries clear too. Once it is dry take a can of air to blow loose glitter away. If there are spots that didn’t get hit with glitter just use a dap of Modge Podge and re glitter that spot. Hope this helps!
