MrsUPS:  I would use ushers. You already said you don’t want your wedding to look too “Pinteresty”.

You have chairs at the ceremony site, people pick where they want to sit.  Done.

Depends on the venue. For mine, it is an outdoor ceremoney with mismatched seats lined up. I’ll save some in the front for family but I don’t think ushers will be neccessary!

Agree it depends on the venue. I was married in a hotel ballroom so besides saving the first rows people sat where they wanted and there were no issues. The event planner at the hotel just informed people to leave those few seats open and sit where they wanted. Simple.

let people sit where they want.  that’s what we did and it was perfect.

I had ushers.  We got married in a church, and for some reason, people have this problem with moving to the front of the church.  At a different friends wedding, people sat themselves, and the church was really full at the back, and really empty at the front.

I don’t think either is necessary.

I would reccomend users! My fiance and I were undecided on this UNTIL we went to a wedding this past weekend that had a sign “pick a seat not a side…blah blah” Well for some reason people dont like to sit next to each other. People were all spread out and of course empty seats between etc. Also people like to sit on the outside so then it is hard for guests who come late to tactufully duck in. I think that in pictures it looks better to have the guests evenly distributed and to make that happen you need someone giving directions. In the end we picked two of our groomsmen to be the users for our wedding and I think that it will help alot.

I am using an usher for the seating of my parents & grandparents, and that is it. No sign [even though our wedding will be a little rustic].

Can’t edit my previous reply for some reason- I would have an usher in for your scenario. People might just ignore the sign (like I would lol).
