I actually ordered a 1ct equvalent moissy off of moissanite.com — the least expensive one they had — on my credit card. I checked it out, then sent it back since they have a 30 day return policy. Only had to pay for shipping it back.

Hmm, I don’t know of any. I think JCPenney used to? If you can make it to the 5/31 Dallas weddingbee meetup, I have a moissanite I love showing off! 🙂 Otherwise, I would just order a loose one and return it within the 30 days.

ETA: http://www.thejewelryforrest.com/index.htm – I did some googling, looks like this jeweler might be able to help?

I would just order and return it from moissaniteco.com or Better Than Diamond (I believe the latter has a longer return period, but check first). Do you want an Amora or unenhanced? If you want Amora, you will have to go with one of those vendors for a loose stone. If you decide to keep it and have them set it, you can just send it back to them to set, or keep it and have someone else set it, or return it and get your refund.

The problem with going to some local places is they often have old old stock, before they made improvements with the moissanite growing process as well as cutting techniques, and they do now always show off moissanite in its best form.

I think you need to just buy a loose stone… esp if you’re thinking that carat size, it will show a lot of color if it’s not enhanced.  So it won’t be that helpful to you to see an unenhanced when you’re trying to decide on the enhanced, you know?

As PPs said, MoissyCo has a great return policy for loose stones.  Shipping it back was like $20 with insurance for the full value of the stone.  (We ordered first and then shipped it back to be set once we knew we were going to go with it.)

@karenlinebarger:  I actually didn’t order a loose stone, I ordered the ring with the stone set in it. I hate looking at just stones, or just settings. I have to see them together!

@karenlinebarger:  It’s a 1ct equiv. cushion cut enhanced, size 5.5

If you go to Charles & Colvards website, then go to “where to buy,” then search for your area, stores that carry it should pop up.  Take it for what it’s worth though, I did this and immediately ran out to see the moissanite in person at the one jewelry store in my area that had it.  I was pretty disappointed because it was sparkly no doubt, but definitely had some color to it.  So I instead took the plunge and ordered a loose amora stone from moissaniteco.com and had it shipped next day, haha.  Fell in love, returned that stone, and ordered a larger one 😛 We found a jeweler who was willing to set it in a diamond setting, and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision!  SO glad we didn’t order a moissanite stone from the jeweler in my city, but it was nice just to see it I guess, then see how much better the amora moissanite is 🙂  Good luck!

Ohh and I forgot to add, definitely call the jewelry store first before you drive there, charles & colvards website is pretty outdated as far as I know.
