Good morning ladies!
I just need some encourage words … mainly advice on how to stop wanting things! ha! Well, first off, my husband and i have been ttc for 9 cycles with no luck. Temping, opks, perfect timing, young, healthy, etc etc etc.. At the same time, I know its a blessing in disguise because hubby got laid off but got a job right away… im about to be done with grad school and will be looking for a job soon. So, needless to say… I am coping that it just isnt the time for us right. Don’t let that fool you, we are still ttc because we have no idea how long it will take us.
So now my problem is… I want a dog. I have wanted a dog for about 4 years now, but we have two cats and we are renting our house from the inlaws, and they say its a no go. However, with ttc and failing at ttc.. i have never wanted a little puppy then now. I know if my husband really talked to his parents, they would cave. UUggghh I just feel heart broken because I keep getting BFN and No’s for a puppy. I just feel so denied … I know this may sound selfish but i dont care. How do I stop wanting something so badly…. how?! Am I just crazy and obsesses??
P.S. I stopped charting this month to help with my obsessiveness… so maybe now I am just obsessing over something else? But its not like a new obsession… just more instense?
P.S.S. I know the responsibilities, cost, etc of having a dog, so that excuse is out the door!
Yup… I am offically crazy! -_-

Aw, sorry to hear ttc is taking longer than expected. I’m only in my third month ttc, and that seems forever!
I sympathise with the puppy urges – I’ve always wanted one, but DH says I can’t until we’re pregnant/ have a baby, to minimise the cost of having someone walk it, train it etc. whilst we’re at work. The annoying this is that I’ve just lost my job, so I think now would be perfect, and hopefully we’ll be pregnant soon, but he disagrees.
I make myself walk right by the puppy shop so I don’t cave.
Regarding your living situation, is there any outdoor space the puppy could live in, or a garage if the in-laws don’t want one in the house. Might be a compromise until you can move?

ps i’ve always found the best way to get over one obsession e.g. charting, symptom spotting, compulsive google-ing, is to start another one e.g. cleaning, gardening, cooking, making plans to redecorate the house, reading something absorbing

@Sbee82: You are NOT crazy! I’ve been TTC for so long, I don’t know anything else. I used to have dogs but my exH got them in the divorce…I couldn’t take them home since I moved in w/my parents.
BUT, I want a dog too! Every single person we know (in Germany) has one and the Germans LOVE dogs…take them to restaurants, out to parks, etc. I swear we have the only landlord in the country that doesn’t allow them or we’d have one. I recently heard they’re changing the law here to forbid landlords from not allowing tenants to have them. So I’m waiting until it becomes official so we can find a furbaby!
To curb my puppy/dog desire, I post cute pics of animals on pinterest…it seems to work!

@pink_sherbert: I side with you and that it is the perfect time to train a puppy since you are now home 😉 And the house we live in, is their house, but they live else where and this house is huge…okay, not huge but has the most perfect size yard for a dog! That’s why I dont get it! Babydust to you!!
I didn’t know dogs were that popular in Germany! I hope they pass that law and you guys get a little addition to your household soon!
