I think it’s smart you guys are waiting. If you have that “what if?” now, it’s great that you have 3 years to think about it ๐Ÿ™‚

College goes by so fast…trust me

@MrsDrift:  i know this will sound stalkerish, but im glad to see youve made a decison thats best for you!:-)  happy planning!

Fiance and i will be together 6 years before marriage and engaged for almost 2.5. We are doing it for non-school reasons…we want to save up more and throw ourselves the wedding we deserve by having a longer engagement. I have had people ask me why so long?er, give me 20k and i’ll have it soon. Oh,no? Then you wait 2.5 years then. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It goes fast. Ive been engaged almost 2 months…26 to go! It is going quickly already. Have fun planning and dont listen to everyone so much. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just enjoy being engaged, and stalk pinterest and these boards to get a feel of what you want your wedding to be like. I still have a little over a year left (been engaged for 6 months already.) We have nothing booked yet, but we have contacted vendors and gotten prices. I’ve tried on dresses and know what style I’m looking for.

As an aside, FH and I have been together since we were 14 and 15, now we are 20 and 21. We have been in a LDR for all of college, so almost 3 years now, and we both changed SO MUCH since we started dating. We broke up once, first semester of college, to figure out if it was what we wanted. Even though I knew I would eventually marry him, he wasn’t sure, so I dated other boys, he went on one date before running back to me. Even though I thought I had no doubt from the beginning, it helped to be with other guys and compare them to FH and realize that he was perfect for me. We laugh at how much our personalities and habits have changed in the 6 years we’ve been together, but we’ve managed to grow and change together.

@GreenSkittle:  How do you deal?  It’s the best option for you, plain and simple.  You said it yourself… you guys are really young, you rely on your parents financially, etc.  Take this time as an opportunity to grow in your relationship and become stronger before jumping into marriage at such a young age!  You will come out the other side better prepared for such a huge commitment so keep that in your mind over the next few years.

Best of luck.

@sealevels:  Haha! If it weren’t for all the responses I got on here and a long talk with Fiance, we would probably still be in limbo about it all! You guys have inspired me. I love weddingbee!

I have had a four year engagement bc stuff just kept coming up, and we never got around to planning until last year. It def got old hearing some remarks about how long my engagement was (when the movie 5 year engagement came out I thought I would never live it down!) Now, my wedding is so close it seems surreal. It will pass so quickly you will not believe it. Congrats on the engagement!

@GreenSkittle:  Good luck! I am finishing my 3rd year of college this year. I hope to be engaged soon and it is looking like it will be long for us too! I always thought my engagement would be at least 2 years though, so hopefully it won’t be that bad!! Hopefully you will get to have an amazing wedding since you waited so long!
