Honesty is always the best policy. There is a polite, gentle way of telling your Fiance you don’t like the ring without hurting his feelings. As it is, you’ve been wearing it for 2 years. Maybe gently bring up the idea of getting a matching set with your wedding band? If you start researching, you can definitely find a really awesome deal! Tell him that you love your e-ring and it will always have sentimental meaning, but you’d rather have it as a RHR. Mention that you want something timeless and classic.

Are you open to diamond alternatives? I myself opted out of a diamond for ethical and financial reasons. I would research white sapphires, asha diamonds, and moissanites for sure. I would look into alternative vendors such as Etsy–off the top of my head ThisIsLOGR has some pretty good deals.

Otherwise, make sure you pick out a really kickass wedding band that you’ll love. Maybe ask him or plant the seed about getting you a diamond eternity band to hold you over until you get married?

I would definitely talk to him about it. There is no need to go around feeling this bad about your e-ring. Your fiance would probably be more upset that you are wearing something you hate. If you feel you can broach the subject with him, do so. Just make sure you let him know that you love your ring more as a RHR and want something more timeless and classic.

I’d get it dipped for now and worry about a new ring AFTER the wedding when you’re more financially stable. As someone who’s less than two months out from my wedding, it is expensive! Save the money you’d spend on a different ring for your wedding and worry about getting a new one later.
