I have been going to my hair dresser for 8 years now. I get blonde highlights put in every few months. Originally when I started going she was AMAZING. I love my color and how natural my highlights look. However, the last year or so she hasnt been doing a wonderful job. I find that sometimes the sides are further from the scalp than I would like and a few times I have seen a fingerprint of dye on the sides. I still LOVE the color she gives me but the application is REALLY sloppy.
How do I hint at her I NEED her to be more careful and pay close attention or I will go elsewhere (for those of you who know highlights are expensive). I am going this afternoon and if it doesnt go well again I will find a new hairdresser. I am really shy about things like this and have no idea how to approach the situation!

I think you should tell her what you were not happy with the last few times and see if she corrects those things. Just say “oh could you please make sure that side are closer to the scalp than last time” etc etc. And hopefully she gets the hint, if she doesn’t I would move on after this appointment.

I’d mention to her that some of them were a bit low last time, and could she please place them a bit closer to the root– don’t tell her it’s her last chance, but she’s obviously gotten comfortable with you, and her standards have slipped. If you don’t say anything, how can she know you’re unhappy?

I would tell her you noticed oils foils weren’t close enough to your scalp last time and it drove you crazy. When you’re done, take a good look and either thank her for being more careful, or tell her you’re not happy.
