I am recently married and I’m not sure how to go about sending a formal thank you to a group gift that my husband and I received for our wedding!
I am a group exercise instructor at a gym and the people in my class (at least 25 people) got together and all went in on a cash gift (a VERY generous one at that) and a lovely card. The card did indeed include signed names, but the issue I’m having is that a majority of the names are signatures and I really can’t decipher what most of them say. Also, some of those who contributed to the gift are regulars who I see weekly, others I haven’t seen in weeks or months.
Also, because it is a group class at a gym, people come and go as they please; there are no sign-ups or anything, so I do not have phone numbers, email addresses, or mailing addresses for them. I don’t even know their last names!
I do have an idea of who took initiative to coordinate the whole thing (I believe it’s 3 people in particular) and they are regulars who I actually have phone numbers for.
This is what I have come up with so far and it’s all I’ve got as far as ideas are concerned:
Ask for a mailing address for the three that helped coordinate and send them each a written thank you card. Then, post some pictures and video of the wedding on a website and announce the link in class (they all asked repeatedly for pictures before I left for the wedding/honeymoon) and include a thank you to the group on that website somewhere.
I considered handing thank yous to the three regulars as opposed to asking for mailing addresses, but I don’t feel comfortable doing that because I would feel funny giving written thank yous to some and not all. I’d rather mail the written ones because it’s more discreet. Let me know your opinion on this though, I’m open!
Also, when I received the gift, I opened it and read the card in front of everyone and said thank you individually to everyone who was there that day, but I still feel the need to give some sort of a formal thank you. My husband and I are so appreciative and I am so blown away that these lovely people went out of their way to do something so generous and special for me; I want them to know that!
What are your thoughts! Does anyone have any other ideas for me? Thank you!!!
