I’m getting frustrated thinking of names for my newlywed blog. Currently, I have a blog that I started about a year ago (before we were engaged), and it is not relative to our lives anymore.
I started my current one originally because it was mainly for work. I wanted to feature my job, explorations relative to it, and pictures of where I visit. But then when we were engaged, it turned into a wedding planning blog. Then, when we moved to Oregon, I changed the name to include Oregon. But it just doesn’t feel like it relates to our lives.
I don’t have a ton to share on my blog quite yet, but there are projects, etc. that I’d like to share with friends and family.
So, how did you ladies come up with a name for your blog? It will be newlywed-centric, featuring projects we do, life experiences, and big news (if we it to share).
Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I don’t think the title has to reflect that you’re a newlywed, or cite this stage of your life in particular–isn’t that why your current and last one aren’t appealing to you anymore? I would think about your subject matter, you as a person and what you tend to write about, then go from there. I came up with mine on a long car trip. 🙂 I think wordpress.com has beginner’s advice for how to brainstorm and come up with a title/theme/etc.

I think it depends what your intentions for your blog are. Do you want to monetize and market it? Or is it just going to be a way for friends and family to keep up on your life as newlyweds? If it’s the latter, it really doesn’t matter too much. Make it something simple and cute.
But if you do intend to make your blog more publicized, choosing a name is important. This is a good article with some tips: http://socialmediastrategyblog.com/how-to-name-your-blog/

Why not something like “[Last name’s] Oregon Trail” that just follows your lives?

@pinkpaperbride: I think you’re right – I don’t want to really make it super specific about being a newlywed, so it doesn’t make it less current. I did a search for newlywed blogs the other day, and one of the girls has 3 kids now…I don’t want to have to change my blog name again in a few years. I’ll check out wordpress.com’s advice – thanks!
@littlemissmango: It’s only for keeping our family/friends in the know about us…mostly because we’re so far away from everyone and it’s nice to be able to fill everyone in at one central location.
@MightySapphire: I actually thought about that, but what if we end up moving again? (God forbid, lol)…
One thing that I did think of, was calling it ‘Leaving the Barn’..or something like that. It’s because when we lived in Napa, we were living in DH’s parent’s mother in law unit. Ironic, huh? But the Mother-In-Law unit is actually a big apartment in a barn. Like, above a big garage and horse stalls (empty).
Is that cheesy? Or should I keep brainstorming?

Mine and two of my friends are a play on our names/last names. Does your new last name rhyme with any words in common sayings? Can you make a pun out of it? Can you combine both your first names for something?
@napabridekelsey: As far as ‘Leaving the Barn’ I would say that its applicable now, but might not be so much further down the road. I think it is better to name it something that is a stronger constant throughout your lives. I don’t think it is a bad name though, and you could really run with it.
Another thing to keep in mind, you can often change the title that shows up on a blog page, it is just the url wording that stays the same.

Well, maybe I’ll throw out some things that I’ll be posting, to maybe help us brainstorm.
– DIY projects around the house
– Updates to major life decisions (buying a house, job changes, etc.)
– Random ‘What I Wore today’ posts
– Current events (visiting new places, events that we attend)
– Random things that make me happy
I’d say 75% of the posts will be DIY, but I don’t want to be considered a ‘Project’ website..you know?

OR is something like ‘See Kelsey Do’ too obvious/boring?

@napabridekelsey: I personally like it
