- Wedding: December 2017
I’m getting married in a couple weeks (12/9). I’m struggling to determine how much to tip my wedding venue and could use your help!
The cost for my venue covers everything (food, drinks, wedding coordinator, etc.). The only things not included are the DJ, flowers, and photographer. My venue charges a 22% “operational fee” and made it very clear that it’s not a service charge and does not cover any gratuity. I asked my venue’s Sales Director (who I dealt with when booking) about gratuity and she didn’t want to give me much guidance – she said it’s totally up to me but tips are not spoken about or expected. She also said they pay their staff well enough that they don’t need to rely on tips.
I would feel wrong not tipping anything, but don’t think I need to tip the standard 15%-20% of the total bill ($25,000). Curious to get your thoughts on this, and on my planned tip amounts:
Maître d’: $150
Wedding coordinator: $150
Bartenders: $50 each
Coat room attendant: $30
