Why don’t you just tell them that?  You Fiance has friend issues, this is a family affair.

@Mrs Hoot:  To me it sounds like you’re being punished for having more friends than him.  Which isn’t fair.  If you want to invite them, and have the money to invite them, you should be able to do that.

Can you explain to them it is family only but I think this is selfish of your Fiance.  Everyone will be focused on the two of you not taking guest counts!

Aww, that’s a really sucky situation to be in. If you can’t change your fiance’s mind, I would just tell your friends the truth.

If you haven’t sent invitations then there’s no invitation to rescind.  Once you send out invitations (so the guest list is all settled and final) you should tell them when it comes up.  I would say “Wedding planning is going great!  We did have a change of heart and decided to only invite immediate family.  Do you want to do [happy hour next week] or [something else you normally do to show that you are still friends] with Fiance and I?”

As long as you’ve never given them any real indication that they would be invited, I think just telling them that your wedding is family only will be fine.

the lack of an invitation should be a clear indication they aren’t invited.

WhatI kind of friends would ditch you because you and your Fiance wanted an intimate wedding?
