My cousin just told the family she’s pregnant, and she told me her jeans are getting kind of tight. She’s trying to figure out if there’s anything she can add to her jeans to be able to wear them longer. She’s only 7 weeks, and not showing or anything. And she’s not announcing her pregnancy for quite a while for work reasons, so she doesn’t want maternity jeans. So is there any tips or tricks or things you can buy to make non maternity jeans work while pregnant?

My coworker used a hair tie, looped it through the jean button hole and latched it onto the button when her jeans wouldn’t quite button.

I still am making mine work- I use a hair tie and leave the zipper undone and the button undone. I wear a super long tank to cover everything. Works great!
(The hair tie just works instead of the top button- I put it over the top button, like an extender.)

She could wear them unbuttoned and slightly unzipped and wear a bella band or other maternity band overtop (or honestly, just a tight tube top would probably do the trick).

Lay down on a bed and use a pair of pliars like they did in the 80’s?

@Paiger8: Maternity jeans don’t have to look maternity-ish. I was able to find my favourite jeans that had just been converted into maternity pants and they are awesome! They just took off the waist band and sewed on the maternity band. No one can tell.

The belly bands are designed exactly for this reason – that’s what I am using for now. Although I also bought one pair of maternity jeans already – they are SO comfortable and you can get really cute skinny jeans or whatever regular style she likes, so I wouldn’t hold off on buying them for that long just because she doesn’t want anyone to notice – you can’t tell at all they are maternity as long as you have a long enough top on.
