Fiance and I never set a “budget” but if we had we would have gone over it. This wedding is so freaking expensive!

I think we will end up about 1K over our initial 5K budget… but fingers crossed that something, someday will end up UNDER the estimate, instead of the opposite which seems to keep happening. 🙂

I am terrible and keep buying little things and saying ‘well this doesn’t count as part of the budget because I a buying it over a year in advance”.  Oh the way we trick our minds into wasting money

Our initial budget was $10,000, because we just picked a number out of a hat, essentially. Soon we realized that to get what we wanted, we would really need it to be $12,000, so we adjusted our budget accordingly.  I’m guessing we’ll be at $12,500 when all’s said and done. But I’m hoping not!!

We set our budget for 8k and we are at about 6300 right now my fingers are crossed to stay within the budget we made.

We set a budget of 15,000 not including rings and honeymoon.  We clocked in at 14,300.

We’re over double what our initial guess budget was, but never really set a hard budget.

We’ve doubled the original number we talked about; however, we didn’t really know how much a wedding in the Newport and Bristol area would cost.  If we had done some research I think our initial budget would be closer to the figure we are at.

I had an initial budget of $15,000, but that wasn’t realistic for the kind of party we wanted, so we’re at about $22,000 right now for 130 guest with a 3 course dinner, appetizers, late night buffet, open bar.

my most expensive items are:

-reception (food and drink) $13,000

-photography ($4000)

-rings ($1500)

Our feeling was we want our guests to havf a good time so good food, drink and entertainment was important. At the end of the day all we have is the rings and the photos, so we didn’t want to go cheap on that.

Everything else is elcheapo.

(Edit: Doesn’t include honeymoon…we’re going on a mini-moon with hopes to go on a full honeymoon in 6 months time to Europe)

We were doing pretty terribly, but we cut alcohol for non-monetary reasons, and now we’re doing a lot better.

We’ll be over budget by 3k, but I think our original budget of 5k was just unrealistic looking back now…

If we went over, if was by less than a $100. I was a budget nazi and kept an Excel spreadsheet of everything. I wasn’t so good the last week before, so I didn’t keep close eye on it. But, I know we came in very, very close to our $10k budget.
