    @Hyperventilate:  +1

I have an F and I would’ve probably gone with an G or H but the F was in my budget. First importance to me was cut, next was color.. I’m not a fan of any warmth. My friend has an I and we’ve put our stones next to each other and you can tell a little from the top, but a lot more from the sides. Not enough to make that much of a difference though. I just love how white my stone looks especially in the sunlight.

If it isn’t colorless, then I wouldn’t want it!  F is the warmest I would want.

Mine is a cushion cut G. I was also looking at an H…I couldn’t see a color difference side by side, but Fiance could. I kept switching the 2 behind my back and he could tell the H every single time, so we went with the G. I don’t think anything about it is dingy-in fact, I think it’s SUPER white all the time.

I think my round is an L which works for me since I don’t seem to be very color sensitive. I notice it once in awhile but for the most part it just looks like other diamonds to me. My setting is platinum with little diamonds but I don’t notice the difference between the band diamonds and my main even though I know those are towards the front part of the alphabet. Between the size and the detailing around the band diamonds I don’t know if the difference would be noticable to most people. You porbably just have to look at some in different lights to see where your personal cut off is.

Ok so I voted K, but I hadn’t read your post. K is the lowest I would consider ever going I think. But I’m pretty color sensitive so in general I wouldn’t go below an I most likely (for a round). I was just voting based on the lowest I would ever consider, and I have seen some K stones that face up pretty white. And of course it all depends on your setting-I’ve actually seen some L’s on pricescope as a solitaire that look pretty colorless. But for an oval in platinum? Probably H or maybe even G. Like I said I don’t really like warm diamonds unless we’re talking OEC or OMC, and even then relatively little color.

my round is a G. I was starting to think it looked yellow being in a bright red room (FI a huge devils hockey fan, so our living room is BRIGHT red with the black and white) But today being back in rotation my stone looked SOOO white! my preceptor even commented on how beautiful it was. 🙂

Mine is an H, i can see slight color sometimes but mostly it looks white!! Here are two pics to compare. The bottom one shows the “color” that i sometimes notice. (although to me it is very minimal)

I have a F coloured diamond and can’t see any colour at all.  If I had to choose another diamond, I would likely go G or H but would prioritize cut over colour if necessary.

    I think I’d go to a I. I have an H and I think it’s perfect.

OP, I can’t really tell you much about ovals because I have a round brilliant diamond but maybe these pics can help?  Ovals are beautiful too btw

I have an H center stone with F baguette side stones on a platinum band.  It looks super white to me 99% of the time.

Here is the ring alone (with a wedding band I tried on for fun today Sealed)..

And here is a pic of my ring under my fabulously large CZ & sterling silver ring

Been engaged, *ahem*, a number of times.  Had a flawless, colorless at 19; an N, flawed presented to me at 21, a god-knows-what-from-the-mall at 26, an H, VS, large rock (from a mega-insecure, draining man-whore) at 38 and now an I, VS, .90 rock at 40yrs.  Out of all the history, this I, VS is so damn perfect and white with this creamy warm at times that I am seriously in love/obsession with it.  Also have a 3-stone heirloom of flawless, F color, and next to my I solitaire the three stone looks like a fake, it is so weird.

Now, one important thing:  If you are going to go warm (and TRUST they are beautiful, the H, I, J, K, etc.) go with a good cut, GIA or AGS.  I think cut makes a tremendous amount of difference.  Before I understood anything about cut (back in the day when I thought “I want big, big, BIG!!”) I look at pics of the previous rings and I completely see the damn difference.  Warm is damn beautiful cut well.  Period.

Equally important:  all of the rings in this thread are gorgeous!  Cheers to these sites! lol.

Here’s my (final) I, VS, TripleEX, .90 ring from the love of my life…

@sweetpotata:  Oooh I love your backstories on your past rings. Just curious what did you end up doing with all of the other rings? Pics of them?

Omg, that’s a whole ‘nother backstory.  Suffice it to say, half remained with me and the others were gladly given back.  The engagement madness began at 19 with me and hopefully has ended at my current 40.  The sick thing is that I never want/wanted to get married; my freedom is always on a warpath, yet all these damn proposals.  I swear if a girl is ultra-independent and confident, that is the sexiest thing of all to men.  Don’t know how else to explain it.

Have a pic somewhere of the H, VS, large rock.  Will dig it up and find this thread to possibly post it.

My stone is F. I have never seen any ‘warmth’ to it and I actually had to look up what that was…. I don’t like it! I am glad mine doesn’t have any.
