So this blog isn’t very drama filled, nor was it an intense experience. But I was very surprised overall! We stumbled upon our caterer mainly through everyone raving about them…and the fact that services in upstate NY seem to cling to each other. So the photgrapher we first looked at loved workign with this company, venues loved working with them, salons, florists, etc. So that made me feel I wanted to work with them!
I scheduled a conseltation with them, although it was around a year and a half from the wedding….hey things book up quick, a girl has to be on her toes here! So we met with Kathy King, of Classe Catering, she was personable, understood what I wanted and knew we were on a budget.
So a couple weeks later we received our proposal and it was fairly decent considering it included open bar, food for 160, linens, china, glasses, the cake, and extra tables for the bar area, as well as extras like candles, vases, etc.
So the Fiance and I were pondering it over when we received another email from Kathy inviting us to a tasting. What is better than eating a ton of food?! Eating a ton of food that is free and I didn’t cook! So we said yes and a month later headed on over. Being the horrible blogger I am I didn’t take any pictures, but I feel if the camera were there it just would have gotten in the way of me shoveling the amazing food into my mouth like it was my last meal. Ignore the fact that I needed to be rolled out of there!
This is how the tasting completely exceeded my expectations! What I thought would be a little meal turned out to be passed hors d’oeuvres….about 10 of them each, followed by a buffet of all the entrees they serve….about 30 or so, the Fiance and I loaded up our plates with half of each so we could sample everything, followed then by a bowl of sherbert to cleanse the pallet for dessert! We had three different types of cake, chocolate with chocolate ganache, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. And these were actually 3 slices of cake…not just little tastes. While all this was going on we also had unlimited amounts of champagne, white wine, and red wine.
Needless to say, I could have survived a week on all the food I ate while I was there! lus the service was fantastic and we also were able to see how their serving staff worked, buffet style and specialty stations. We signed our deposit check right there on the spot and our wicked excited for our upcoming tasting which will be more beneficial to what we are serving at the wedding, as well as brining our parents along!
How was everyone else’s experience with their caterer?
