My fiance knew him.  I didn’t have anyone close anymore, but it was important to us as well, and it’s turned out well so far.  My fiance had a good opinion of this guy so I trusted him.

We know him VERY well! He has been my FI’s pastor since he was about 4 and my pastor since about 6th grade. He has witnessed all the ups and downs of our relationship – which will make it so special for him to finally be marrying us!

Our officiant was my youth pastor.  When I was 15, he made me promise that he could do my wedding.  It took 23 years, but I’m keeping my promise 🙂

It’s so special to have someone who has seen me through all of my crazy stages marrying us, and the best part is that he and fiance hit it off like nobody’s business!

Our officiant was my MOH’s mother and a very prominent figure in both my life and the community growing up for me. It made our ceremony so perfect knowing that she married us and that we are so intimately close to her. I highly suggest finding a friend or family friend that is interested in officiating your ceremony and having them ordained! Our ceremony was so personal. I loved it!

We don’t know him well at all. I know it sounds terrible, but I had very low expectations about an officiant. As long as he could speak clearly and had some sort of charisma, we were good. He was cheap and lives near our venue, so that’s doubly good.

I’m crossing my fingers that my brother will be our officiant, but it looks like he may pull out of the job (long story). So now I have no idea about who will be our backup plan 🙁

I originally wanted an officiant that knew us well, but those plans fell through for a number of reasons – mainly that we weren’t marrying in either of our home towns and our friends we considered to officiate just didn’t work out.

So we hired a JOP based off our venue’s recommendation and he was WONDERFUL. We saw him perform a ceremony for a couple that was eloping and then chatted for an hour or so about our ceremony. We wrote our own ceremony and he really supported that and helped us out. I hope that a lot of bees who hire someone have similarly good experiences!

I originally wanted our officiant to be a college professor who was also a minister but unfortunately (but fortunately) his daughter is having her wedding the same day so he obviously had to decline. So our next choice was my G’Mom. She is licensed to do weddings in Florida and is a practicing officiant so she checked her creds and was allowed to marry us in PA. Yippee!! This will be more personal because she is doing it for us.

We don’t know our offciant at all.  We’re using a Justice of the Peace in the town we’re getting married.  I just sent her the ceremony we wanted to use and she’ll read it and sign our marriage certificate.  We’re not that religious and we’re getting married out of the area we live, so we decided this made the most sense for us.

Our officiant is my FI’s pastor and really good friend.  Since meeting Fiance I’ve gotten to know the pastor and his wife and kids.  Actually the pastor’s wife is doing our wedding pictures too!!!  We hang out occassionally and have a lot of fun together!  So to answer the question, yes we know our officiant!!
