I wouldn’t turn around during the ultrasound but my parents were convinced I was a boy and were going to name me Andrew Timothy.

I was named after Lady Guinevere from the Camelot stories……way to go mom, for naming me after the chick who brought down Camelot.  I guess it could be worse – if I was a boy, I was going to be named Lancelot.

Sorry Mrs.CubbbyBunny – I have not seen The Big Chill!

I’m named after an Irish last name. My mom thought she was being sooo clever, and thought she’d made it up. And then there were 3 Kelseys in my Kindergarten class!

I was going to be named Heather, but my mom babysat at that time and one of the kids she watched was named Heather, and this little girl was a nightmare. So they named me after my mom’s favorite charatcer, Kimberly, from the soap One Day At A Time.

My name is the feminine version of my grandfather’s name.  I don’t think it was in honor of him though.  My older sister probably would have gotten the name if that was the case.  I think my mom just liked the way my name sounds.  BTW her best friend who ended up being my aunt, is the one who suggested the name to my mom.

Was it Alex? I saw the movie a couple years ago.

Anyhoo, I was named after a family friend. I was supposed to be “Portia” but my father vetoed it. He said everyone would ask why I was named after a car haha!

I was named after a song and album by the band Steely Dan. My name is Aja, but it is pronounced like the continent, so people think it is spelled that way.

@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: Yup, I am Andrea Sofia.  The Sofia was named after my grandmother’s family (my mom’s middle name was Sophia).

My mom chose my name from a character in a Jackie Collins book.  I’m pretty sure the character was a prosititute too.  Hahaha.  My mom originally picked out Amanda Leigh, but my grandfather told her no way.  Hah.

My parents originally decided on naming me Henna. My grandmother, who was/is pretty influentual in my family, loathed the name and since I was her first grandchild, she pretty much flat out refused to allow my parents to name me that. It wasn’t until my mom was in labor with me and my grandmother was on her way to the hospital that she heard the name Caitlyn and loved it. She told my parents when she got there and they agreed that it was better than Henna (no offence to any Henna’s out there, just their personal preferance). I definitely think Caitlyn suits me better.

As for my middle name, my great-grandmothers name was May and my grandfathers name was Raymond (Ray) so they chose “Marae” (pronounced Muh-Ray). I used to haaaate my middle name and tell everyone it was Marie but now that I’m older I totally appreciate the uniqueness and I absolutely love it.

@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: My mother is obsessed with Greek tragedies haha, I think it takes a special kind of person to be able to pull off that name though.

And yes, if it’s an 80’s movie I have seen it!
