How/when did you tell your husband or partner?

My husband bought the test for me and waited in the next room while I peed on the stick. I was traveling abroad for work for my entire two week wait, and we would talk every day on WhatsApp and I would wonder if it worked. My last day before returning home, I told him I felt like I was getting my period, except that the cramping was more pronounced on one side than it normally is. But I wasn’t sure if that could be implantation, or if I was just noticing it more than in normal months because I was paying such close attention to every symptom.

As soon as we got home after he picked me up from the airport, I went straight into the bathroom. I was expecting to have to wait the 5 minutes, but the two lines showed up almost immediately after the stick got wet! So I yelled to him in disbelief that we made a baby on our first try (he was very proud of his swimmers though). I’m due in October with our baby girl 🙂

@sars813:  Mine was a surprise pregnancy. I had an abscess in my underarm and had been to the doc who put me on antibiotics. She first did a pregnancy test which came up negative, so she decided to give me a test to take home to do in 2 days.

I only tested 3 days later, and it was because I was experiencing some cramps. It came up positive. I phoned my husband at work and just said I needed to go to the store when he got home from work.

Jumped in the car with the positive test, told him I’m pregnant and I needed to buy more tests to confirm 😅

I bought some wine flavoured gummy bears that came in a container shaped like a wine bottle. I taped the test to the back of it under a note that said something like, “Cheers! This will be my only wine for a while!”

@sars813:  Congratulations and best of luck! I am pregnant via IVF so I tested earlier than I told my husband I would so that I could still surprise him in some capacity. We had been trying for two years this month and I have accumulated a few baby items over the years, like booties and onesies and children’s books, so I put together a gift box with a few of those items in it along with the positive tests and burried it all under crinkle confetti. His birthday was conveniently a couple weeks prior so I told him that some of his gifts had arrived later and that I wanted him to open them. First he grabbed the booties then he grabbed the baggie with the positive tests (a digital that spelled out pregnant and a first response line test) and he just smiled and asked, “You’re pregnant?” And then came and gave me the biggest hug. It was super adorable! And I secretly recorded it all 🙂

I took a test right before my husband happened to surprise me by coming home on lunch. Was not expecting the test to be positive, but as soon as I saw it, I blurted out (while pounding on the bathroom door), “Oh my God, I’m pregnant!” and husband responded “Um . . . I’m shitting. Can you give me a min?”

When he came out, he was cautiously optimistic. We experienced three back to back losses last year and a few other chemicals, so a positive test did not ignite excitement in us. However, I am currently 13 weeks along!
