My Fiance told me a few months before the proposal that if I posted the typical, “My best friend asked me to marry him, and I said YES!” he would break it off…. so I had excuse to be creative with it!! 😀 (Obviously he was kidding, but I agreed with him that the typical FB post was kind of annoying and definitely overdone–at least by the people from our college, where it’s typical to get the “ring by spring” of senior year…)

Anyway, I spend a while (I mean a WHILE, longer than necessary) coming up with something more unique to say… I ended up with:

“After exactly two years of serious planning, my diamond heist is complete! Muahahaha #affianced”

For context, he proposed on our two-year anniversary 🙂 I posted this with a few pictures from the day and a close-up of the ring.

I posted a pic of us from just after he proposed with the caption, “We’re engaged!” It was very straightforward.

We are obsessed with our cats, so it was only appropriate that we include them!

I just changed my relationship status to “engaged”.  My fiance doesn’t really use social media, and I am not very active on facebook, so I thought something simple was best.

There is such joy and beauty in this world. I am so lucky and blessed to have found Brian. Today I said “Yes” repeatedly!

We’re dressing our very tolerant cat (who doesn’t mind clothes) up like Professor Farnsworth and posing her with the ring for one of our photos. We’ll be posting that, with the caption, “Good mews, everyone!” and then something about our engagement.

The comedian John Mulaney has this bit about buying the cow when you can get the milk for free, and this long bit about proof of purchase. Everyone that watches this bit and knows us, laughs so hard.

I plan on posting a picture with the ring with caption “Proof of purchase!”

jubiebee:  About five minutes after he asked my then-FI (now husband) posted “She said yes” on his facebook. When I saw him messing with his phone I told him to delete it!! I hadn’t even called my dad yet!! lol Luckily only a couple people saw it.

We told our close family and friends in person (it was Thanksgiving) or by phone. After that was all done (about 48 hours later) I posted a picture of us at Thanksgiving with my hand out showing the ring (not close up or anything- our faces & upper bodies took up most of the shot) and the caption “So…. Thanksgiving was pretty good this year”.

I told all my family and close friends first (face to face), 2 months later I announced it on FB by changing my relationship status 🙂

We didn’t announce it on social media until our 6 month anniversary, and we just changed our relationship statuses.

jubiebee:  You could announce your engagement using this app:

http://blog.instagram.com/post/131684343987/boomerang-from-instagram

Have you and your partner together and wave your left hand a few times in front of your faces and capture that wave movement on the app. It’s the only thing that moves and it’s such a creative app.

There are a few examples on Instagram of this.
