We got engaged on a beach in Mauritius. I posted a picture of us with ring in evidence and the caption “Must’ve been the rum…”

Hmmm. Not engaged yet, no. Though I’ve been led to believe proposal will occur this month! Eeeek! Hehe. Any day now actually!
I’m still contemplating on whether to post on social media or not. If I do, I’d definitely use the Boomerang app. It’s just so unique!

Just changed our status to “Engaged” on Facebook. No ring shots, nothing cutesy. We’re boring.

I posted this on instagram. We changed our relationship status to engaged on facebook. My sister also posted a video from our engagement to snapchat and facebook. Some people would think this is a “tacky” way to announce it but our closest friends already knew as well as my family (it was a surprise to me.) He is not close to his family and his dad only made a big deal out of “finding out on facebook” three months after we were engaged. I do not find it tacky or inappropriate & it worked just fine for us.

We skipped the engagement. I’m a military bee. We just went ahead and got married may 24- a random tuesday lol. He is back off to his post far away now. I told my family of course before hand- but I’m only just now individually messaging my friends. — I’m still trying to decide how to update my social media!!! So right now we are just picking out our rings. I guess I’ll just change my name and update my status to MARRIED! hahahah. We will throw a party next may for our one year anniversary and invite all our friends and fam.

I took a cute polaroid picture of us and wrote ‘engaged!’ under it. In retrospect, I wish I’d done something simpler, like just a picture of our hands or something. To be honest, anything is fine, just go with your gut! 🙂

We were pretty boring on fb. Posted a picture of him down on one knee, and updated our relationship status. On Instagram, I posted this:

I think after I’ve told all of my family and friends I’ll just be changing my relationship status on Facebook. I’m a fan of all engagement announcements and I always “like” them, but since I’d rather tell everyone I love in person first, there’s just no need.

Called all our family first 🙂

FB messaged my two besties (easiest way to get hold of them, especially as one was on holiday!)

Then when we got back to the hotel that night (about 11pm) we both changed our relationship status and uploaded a couple of pictures 🙂

I just changed my relationship status, but that was about six months after the actual engagement. We wanted to make sure family and friends knew first, plus I’d only just finalised my divorce and I was worried about copping judgy comments. Pretty much everyone knew by the time we got around to updating it. We’re also eloping so we’ll probably do the same to announce our marriage.
