Ours was pretty standard. We took a picture toasting champagne the night he proposed. A few days later I posted the picture and captioned it “We’re finally getting around to making it official” or something like that. We had been together for 4+ years before that, so we got a lot of “about time!”s from our friends and families.

jubiebee:  I waited a week, then changed my status and posted a picture of my hand with a truly hideous (IMO) piece of costume jewelry from an abandoned storage unit.  No one commented on the pic though – I sort of wonder if some thought it was real and were too polite to say anything.

We called our parents – who knew it was coming.  And I texted my siblings and besties.

Later, I posted a pic of myself with my ring glinting in the firelight at our dinner with the caption “Dust off your dancing shoes, Kids! This old lady is getting married!” (I’m among the last of my friends to get married, Darling Husband and I are both “olds”)

I changed my profile picture to the pic below on facebook bc my mom and best friend were threatening to do it for me if I didnt do it.  It took a sec for people to catch on, but when they did it was hilarious.  Most folks didn’t even know I was dating until I posted a picture of us on our one year anniversary and then a month later we were engaged.  I never officially had a ring post or anything.  Most of the folks who know me said that my chill post seemed exactly like me.

Whenever my SO proposes we agreed that we’re not gonna go nuts on social media. A lot of our family members don’t have FB, live far away, etc. We prefer for the announcement be more personal. We’ll probably just change our relationship status once all the family and friends know. I am not one for posting a pic of the ring either. I tend to find it tacky.

Not engaged yet, but when we do after telling family & close friends I’ll post a picture on social media. The picture will consist of my favorite picture of us in a nice frame, with the ring in an open box, with our soon to be married surname a crossed the top of our photo with est. (year) on the bottom. Or I’ll post a photo collage of us throughout the years to music with that picture at the very end. My SO doesn’t have any social media accounts, so I’ll be the one to post our good news! I can’t wait until that day comes, it’s been 8 long years!

We won’t announce it at all as we are having a destination wedding for only a very small group of our nearest and dearest. After we get married, then we will post a ‘we’re married!’ photo. Only few people know that we are engaged as we don’t want to invite a lot of people to the wedding.

jubiebee:  We just changed our Fb status to engaged. And for some reason two random pictures came up. One of our dog and one of a surprise party for our friend (not a picture of us, a picture of my friend when we all yelled surprised. Lol). I told Fiance it’s a sign we need more pictures together.

Mines was pretty straight forward…I just posted the proposal pics on fb the day after it happened.
