Need some ideas about decorating because it looks like we’ll be doing it ourselves the night before/day of 🙁 I was thinking white lights on the beams, we’re definitely doing mason jars with flowers/candles for centerpieces… I just think the space is so big that it doesn’t need much (or I hope not at least!)
As for the church, I’m really at a loss. It’s a big old church and I don’t want stuff to get “lost” in it… Maybe a pint jar every fourth pew with some flowers? Would that be too small and pointless? Any ideas welcome! I’ve tried looking at how other bride’s have done Penn’s Peak but haven’t been able to see other weddings at the church online so far.

Your church is beautiful. It looks more like a cathedral. There is a lot going on at the front of the church. I am assuming that some of those potted flowers are seasonal and won’t be there in May.
If you are using mason jars and flowers at the reception I would do something in the same vein for the ceremony. Perhaps a couple of large arrangements on either side of the altar in a vase/container that can be used again at the reception- on the guestbook table or bar. Place the arrangement high up so it will show in your pics.
like this only a much less rigid arrangement
If you have someone to help you, you could even use the same jars of flowers at the church and for centerpieces. You need someone who is willing to gather them up quickly after the ceremony, then go straight to the reception and place them as centerpieces.
This is from a competition but could be the inspiration for something on a smaller scale.
Attach a picture of the two of you-framed or not, and add some dried flowers for a pop of color.
I think it would be cool to start at the back with a pic of your great grandparents if you have one, then grandparents, parents, then the two of you. Do the same on both sides of the church.
Another make ahead idea
a wood circle with your initals or a short phrase wood burned on it
grapevine ball with dried flowers inside

Have you checked with the church to see what decoration they permit? Some older churches don’t allow anything to be attached or put on the pews and flowers must be left at the church.
Honestly, it’s such a beautiful church that I don’t think it needs much more than altar flowers.

Thank you ladies! I do have to check with the church about specifics . I know they don’t allow flower petals, rice, bird seed etc for throwing but I’m not sure about the pews. I think I like the idea of two big things on the alter. They can’t keep my jars though 🙂 lol

@julies1949: I really like the picture idea too- I’ll have to check with the church I guess but the aisle is also super long and I don’t know how many pictures I have of all the generations I can try though! 🙂 Thank you so much for all your suggestions!
