For some reason this didn’t post properly the first time… very bizarre. Basically, I am still hunting for venues. This one is not ideal… it is on the first floor, I’m not sure about the disabled facilities, and access to the outdoor space might be limited… but… what do you think?
Our wedding colour is blue (lucky that the space is blue and white then!)… I am debating going for occasional flashes of yellow as well with some sunflowers, maybe. The theme would be the Great British Beer Festival. Fiance is a police officer, I am an anthropologist, and we met whilst serving in the army.
What do you think? How would you decorate, bearing in mind that the budget is limited? Could I hang fairy lights or bunting up? And how to disguise that awful floor (complete with markings for 5 a side football).

Wow the room is very sticking and beautiful!
I like the sunflowers, would look good in a very tall vase with the blue lighting you can put in the water shinning threw.
With that high ceiling the round paper lanterns in different hanging lengths in your colors I think would be really pretty.
Not sure if that would be your Beer fest theme kind of stuff but it would be pretty. 🙂

Oh and if you bring your guest attention to the celing they won’t even notice the floor.

omg i love it! it’s quite similar to the place we’re having.
can you string fairy lights and laterns from the wooden beams?
here is my pinterest board for ideas for my venue. see if you can find some inspiration!

that space rocks. I would make everything tall since you have soooo much ceiling height

Thanks guys… Yep… definitely going for fairy lights from the beams, if I can, and lots of candles… need to see the outside space as well, to see if I can put lanterns out there. Ugh… hope I’m not jumping the gun. The space isn’t even mine yet!
Finally bit the bullet and went on pintrest to post some of my ideas. I thought they were very different from each other, but seeing them together… they might work! They also give you an idea of the “British beer festival” theme… it’s not like Oktoberfest… sort of like a fete with games and wonderful food to go with your beautiful, oak casked beer… I found a caterer who does venison, lobster, wild mushrooms… NOM NOM NOM…
The only thing I realised about sunflowers is that, whilst I do love them, I might be better sticking to blue and white with a tiny bit of red, as those are the flag colours… I suppose I could go for daisies with yellow centres, but it’s not the same… 🙁

I’d put uplighters in the windows and in all the arches.
