So I know I want to do something… Not much mind you since I don’t want to detract from the historical site too much. I’m just not sure what I want to do… Our venue is a one room schoolhouse and I would like to keep the desks as the seats (although we are allowed to change them or move them around as we please).
For the outside we plan on hanging some DIY wreaths I made on the doors. They are made from old book pages. I’m not sure if a garland made from the same type of paper flowers would be a good idea? Or something else entirely. I have oodles of ideas for the reception, but the ceremony space has me stumped. I don’t like pew bows and such and havn’t really seen much else so I guess that could be why I’m at a loss. Well here’s the wreath:
And this is what the flowers look like close up:

Maybe you could keep it super simple like this wedding (and just use your colors instead of red white and blue) write your names on the chalkboard and put up cute little just married banners and it’ll be so cute!
I love these for your site:

Your wreaths are stunning! Great job.
Are you using that raised platform as an altar? I would get a sheet of plywood 4×8′,paint it with blackboard paint and prop it up in front of the window. I would do something like the pp has posted on the blackboard or write a quote about love or marriage.
If you use the desks as seats, I would place a shiny red apple on each desk.

This is why I love being able to ask the ladies on these boards for advice! So many good ideas!
@HappilyEverAfter54: That little “love” banner is so cute! The little lace fringe on that actually goes well with a lot of our details.
@kellmerr: I like your idea of fabric bunting. I’ve been wanting to find a way to incorporate bunting for a long time now. That kind of fell to the wayside when I hit the “too many ideas that really don’t flow together!” wall. *sigh I seem to want to try every and any craft project. I could always do some sort of lacy bunting.
@julies1949: I love the chalkboard idea! I’m not sure how I’d execute that though. I’ll have to go back and see how that will affect lighting in the room. In the pics the side shutters are not open so hopefully the windows on the side of the schoolroom would give enough lighting. My Fiance really likes your apple idea too. : D
Now to go start playing with some options…
