My Fiance has a lot of dangerous hobbies, and when he’s off doing them (especailly when he’s alone!!!) I tend to worry… a lot…

If he had done this to me, I would have whole heartedly believed the friend and thought I was rushing to his deathbed– I’d have KILLED him when I found out!!! I’d still say yes though! 😛

This would absolutely not have been even remotely cool with me, and I don’t honestly know that I could have married someone who didn’t understand that about me. My dad died in a freak accident, and while I’m not paranoid, in no way would I think a false health alarm would be funny. UGH I’m mad just thinking about this.

Hoping the guy knew that his girl would react better than I would have, though :).

I agree with Kate02121 I would not have handled that well.  Anyone who knows me even remotely well knows that I would be livid about something like that.  I can take a joke as in ‘I hid behind the door to scare you’ or ‘I am holding your favorite x hostage for y’ but anything that is serious like that, no way.  I would never do something like that to someone else and I expect the same courtesy in return.

@SimpleGifts:  Ha. Not to make light of the question or your comments, but I did laugh at the things you said you could take a joke on. I agree though.

@simplegifts i totally agree with this.

However, I would have probably been briefly upset/angry, but im guessing that’s just his type of humor and that as his girlfriend I may have been used to that, and knowing it wasnt intentionally meant to cause me hurt or distress I would have figured it was a creative proposal and happily accepted.

I’d punch him in the balls.  Then take the ring.

I would have been furious, and I probably would have said no honestly. It’s just not funny to joke about something that she probably worries about a lot. It would have been different if she had showed up and he had been fine, but really? It just feels kind of mean to me.

I would have said no.  You don’t do that to someone…it is beyond cruel.  Then, I would seek counseling with him to find out why he thought that was a good idea.  I may or may not end the relationship, and may accept a future APPROPRIATE proposal, but my God…the fear and sadness she must have been going through…no ring is worth putting someone through that.  They didn’t even say he was HURT and needed/wanted her, which would have been bad enough, they told her he was DYING.  Yeah, not okay.  SO not okay.  I getting pissed just thinking about it!

I would have clubbed him like a baby seal. But I love him, so would have likely said yes. But seriously, he would have owed be BIG time.
