I am having a dinner reception at a local Italian restaurant and we are doing a 2 hour open bar package – the dinner is from 6:30 to 9:30 and we are doing the open bar from 7-9 (because most of DF’s family is chronically late. Seriously, they were 45 minutes late to their grandfather’s funeral – so basically we expect half the guests to arrive at 6:30 and the rest at 7). With it being a restaurant, there isn’t going to be a bartender in our private room, it’s just going to be drinks brought out by waiters – so should I indicate on the menu that the hours of open bar are from X – Z or should I request that the waiters or coordinator mention it? FWIW, I would offer open bar the entire time except A.) my parents are paying for the food (So I can’t complain) and B.) the restaurant has a policy that they will stop serving liquor 30 minutes prior to the end of an event.
