misswaiting:  My little brother’s name is Reece, we’ve always associated the spelling “Reese” with the female version. Rhys is the Welsh spelling and I actually really like it! Though I only know how to pronounce it correctly because of Jonathon Rhys Meyers and his sexy self lol

Wow I’m surprised at how many people said Reese.  I thought RYE-s.  Kinda like rice.

I would pronounce is “ris” (like “risk” without the k). My second guess at pronunciation would “rice”. I would never think to pronounce it like Reese.

There’s a family in my town with the last name Rhys.  They pronounce it Riz.

Cory_loves_this_girl:  + 1! It’s the welsh & traditional spelling. I don’t think many people would actually have trouble pronouncing it- my mums a nursey teacher & she immediately said Rhys like reese! X

In Australia the usual way to spell it is ‘Rhys’. Reece is a more modern phonetic name like ‘Tifanee’ or ‘Khloe’ or ‘Jacqsin’ or something. Rhys looks quite normal to me, as I am sure it would in the UK/Ireland as well.
