Basil like dazzle. But then I’m in the UK and that’s how we pronounce the herb too!

Our Samoyed is named this because we loved the name. His nickname is Baz as well. Almost no one uses the British pronunciatioN. Everyone uses Bay. If he’s going to be known as Baz I think it’s fine otherwise it might be an aggravation for you.

I’d pronounce it Bahsil (not Baysil), but then I live in Europe, and that’s how the herb is pronounced in English as well.

I have been around both, BAYSIL and BAAASEAL. Poor BAASEAL, well he got basil alot.. then it proceeded to Herb. Luckily he took it well 🙂

I would pronounce it Bazil but in a Monty Python voice. (Fawlty Towers reference)

I would pronounce it Baa-sil (baa like a sheep), but I have Caribbean influence in my life. Who cares though, he could teach others how to pronounce his name haha.

Since I know it’s a name I would pronouce it as BAZ-el (Basil of Baker Street from the Great Mouse Detective).

Baaaa-sil, definitely. I’ve never heard it another way in reference to someone’s name…
