whitemochi622 :  Spellings of names are so tricky. I have two friends with the same name. One spells his name Von and the other Vaughan. Seven letters for a one syllable name lol.

I would pronounce it – Kie (like lie)-za. Which is exactly how I pronounce the German word for emperor – Kaiser. I would think you called her Kaiser which I would find weird, and if she ever goes to Germany it will be very weird!

How about Cassia?

Yeah, it’s a pretty name but it’s bound to be mispronounced often, and that will lead your daughter to be constantly correcting people. If there was an alternate spelling that might work, but I’m having trouble thinking of any. What is it about the name that your husband likes? Is it just the sound? Is it the Japanese association? What about the following:

Kaede (maple leaf – Japanese)
Kaasni/Kasni (flower – Indian)
Kaavya/Kavya (poetry in motion – Indian)
Kalea (bright – Hawaiian)

annabeth929 :  same! I don’t know why, but I read it with the soft j sound like when saying Asia just with a K at the start.
