I think Venice is worth a visit, especially if you will be flying into/out of Zurich. It would be a long drive, but definitely a gorgeous one from Zurich to Venice and then onto Florence (or vice versa). I wouldn’t spend more then 2.5-3 days in Venice, as like PP said, there’s not a ton to see and that amount of time will be perfect. It is like no place in the world (The Venetian does not do it justice…) and as long as you stick to the main streets it isn’t all that clasutrophobic.

I haven’t been to Vienna or Zurich, so can’t say anything about that. But have driven through Switzerland and Germany in a rental and did not find it intimidating at all. The European rest stops are like nothing we have in the US. Might just be an extra cost to consider with fuel.

Near (about an hour-ish) away form Zurich is Lake Constance, which I highly recommend if you are driving. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. I’ve stayed in Bregenz, Austria and Meersburg, Germany. We did not visit Konstanz (in Switzerland), but the whole lake is great and very romantic. The villages are all very quaint.

Good luck! It’s a lot of planning on top of a wedding!
