I would rate myself at a 9. Without sounding braggy, my apartment looks amazing and even in college people would compliment my room and say it looked like it came straight from a Pottery Barn catalogue! My mom is very very into decorating (and has even been asked by friends to decorate their houses) so I learned a lot of my style/design from her. I also watch TONS of HGTV and like to read up on architecture, design, decorating, and the like.

I actually look forward to moving so I can re-decorate a new home! haha

I second what @tksjewelry said. I can get a great look started, but have trouble making it look polished. I would rate myself about a 6 because of that, but I do have artistic talent and do a really good job ‘starting’ the look.

I think you should all post some pictures of your challenging spaces and ask for some ideas and/or help. I belong to several decorating sites and when people first started posting pictures, I finally got brave enough to do some too. I’ll never forget how crushed I was when someone asked me what style I was really going for since she saw I had a combination of Victorian, Transitional and Traditional. I had really never thought of it that way. So many people helped me find my style and offer suggestions to make everything in my home more cohesive.

I painted my dining room 9 times in eight years trying to get it right! I have a lot of OOPS pieces cluttering my basement and garage, but I always just bought what I liked.

My husband and I have gotten into WARS over picture hanging. His are always at nosebleed height instead of eye level, but he’s come to see and appreciate the error of his ways. 🙂

I would say I am an 8, I really really love decorating and while in college I always prided myself on not having a “college” apartment, I always had the nicest place. However my style is pretty eclectic and wouldn’t suit many people tastes, but I think I’m pretty good with other peoples styles too Smile. So while not trying to brag I think I’m pretty good at it, but sometimes I struggle with ever finishing, my house is a constant work in progress, so its never perfect Cry.

Is it rude to say 9?  Hahaha.  I just have a knack for it, and my homes have always looked really put together, but definitely not cookie cutter or catalog.  I have a very mid century/rustic thing going on, which sounds kinda strange, but really looks awesome.  I have new things, thrift store finds, vintage pieces from family members, and DIY creations.  I love designing and decorating, and I’m always helping friends and family out with their homes/projects, too.  I’m one of those people who mentally rearranges your stuff when I come over to visit, I can’t help it!!  🙂

I dunno how I would rate myself, actually.  I am good at having a vision about a space and executing it on a budget.  My house is no way trendy in design, but it is comfortable and things go together well.   My budget is limited so I work with what I have.  People have said that my house looks really good for only having it since June.

Probably a 3 or 4?  I’m so lame.
