in my search this morning for “alternative wedding venues” (our preliminary number from our venue of choice was bigger than expected), i came across this: http://yoursummercampwedding.com/ it looks really nice, from the photos. and he seems all for it, i could be persaded, as long as i could have my pretty wedding. which it seems like i could.
Fiance was like, “OMG AWESOME. CALL THEM!”
but i don’t know how our guests would react if we told them “oh hey, our wedding spans a whole weekend and we’re having it at a summer camp on a lake…”
how would you react? would you think “oh how fun!” or would you be turned off?

I would think it was THE BEST THING EVER

I hate camping and I would think this was so cool

As long as you make sure your guests are comfortable, go for it!

That sounds absolutely AMAZING. And now I am sad I’m not having a camp wedding lol
Post # 7
I would probably like it! Just give people enough notice ahead of time.

best idea ever!
It’s similar to what we’re doing with ours, and so far the response has been nothing but positive! Even better if there’s limited cell phone reception; it’s amazing how many people just want a break from being stuffy all the time!

I don’t like camping at all. I would probably attend for the ceremony and immediate reception, but decline to spend a weekend camping.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
October in NE at a summer camp sounds ideal. Now if you asked me about July with no air conditioning, I’d probably have another response. LOL

I think that’s so cool! I would totally want to do that but too much of my family would complain about having to haul themselves alllllll the way up to New Husband and spend their weekend there.

Sounds fun! I would be there!

I agree with abbie017. Unless you were my sibling or very best friend, I would likely attend just the reception and definitely not stay overnight. Just not my thing.
Definitely keep the weather in mind. October in New Husband can go either way. It’s snowed in New Husband in October. While all the pictures seem nice with great weather and everyone is swimming, I wouldn’t expect that in October.

This is pretty amazing, and that area in New Husband is beautiful!

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
I love the idea but be prepared for people who won’t want to stay the entire weekend and camp.
