So long as there’s a flushing toilet (even if it’s one of those portapotty trailers) I’m good to go. I love rustic themes! A mountain retreat sounds AMAZING! I would probably come early and make a little vacation out of it, but that’s just me 🙂 If you’re having a wedding website, maybe you could give a bit of info about the resort and area, as well as any maps for hiking trails, etc if you have guests that are going to stay the night? Maybe suggestions for clothes or shoes if the wedding is outdoors?

@kcoconut: wow, I’m a city girl and that sounds amazing! I think your city friends will enjoy getting away for a little while. I love that you two met there and are now having your wedding there, how romantic!

Sounds like fun!  I second the recommendations on clothing/shoes, also I would provide bug spray at the wedding- you don’t want any guests covered in bites!

I’m ok with rustic as long as there’s a clean bathroom. I’m one of those people that refuses to use portapotties. But you should know your guests.

I think most people love a change. Even die hard city people escape to the country on their weekends and vacations. Run with it!

As long as your guests are taken care of, I think it would be wonderful. As PP mentioned bathrooms, bugspray are a must. Also accessibiity would be important too, as long as this place isn’t donwn a dirt path that you have to hike up hill both ways to get to, it should be fine:)

What do you mean by “very rustic”? Ideally, I would want an indoor toilet (aka, not a port-a-potty) and some sort of cool, shaded/air conditioned area if it’s going to be hot. But maybe I’m a little more city-ish than some other posters 🙂

I think this theme is great!! There is meaning behind the location, which makes it that much more special. As someone who has been to a lot of weddings recently, I would love to go somewhere completely different. It is a different place and I actually think your guests will appreciate the unique atmosphere.

I also think you should provide information for shoes if the terrain isn’t the best for heels. I do think I would feel more cozy/comfy at a wedding like this one.

@kcoconut: Maybe do the flipflop basket thing just in case people forget/want to take off their shoes? I think that would be a big hit!

Rustic is NMS but I would love to attend a rustic wedding! And I love how personal this seems for you and Fiance. Try to make it clear on your website though if there are any conditions people should know about… I wouldn’t be pleased if my shoes got ruined! @Cheesey Potatoes’ flip flop idea might be a good one, I’m sure you could find something appropriate.

As a guest, I would be happy to attend, no matter what the theme or location was. Most people agree and will not care that your wedding is rustic vs whatever else. Most will be happy that it does stray from the norm since what you see plastered everywhere in wedding blogs, etc is not representative of real life.
