Yipee! Another email although much more tame. Someone must have had a chat with our broke bride though now she is fishing for free services.
It’s already time to start thinking about Christmas cards again! So if you’ve moved in the past year, or think I may not have your current address, please send me your current contact info. Mine is: XXXXXXX
Ray and I had our engagement photo shoot last week and plan to send out “Save the Dates” this month. We are still in the process of finalizing our guest list. It’s a pretty tough balancing act, trying to figure out who to include and who to take off. We’d love to invite everyone, but that’s just not feasible. So please don’t be offended if you don’t make the final cut; it’s not because we don’t love you, but rather because we love too many of you.
I’m happy to say that the wedding planning is going very well. We have the venue, food, DJ, cake, officiant, hair dresser, invitations, unity candle, cake topper, guestbook, center pieces, bridesmaids bouquets, and tuxedos all set (or at least we know what we are doing, but still working out the finer details). I’m going dress shopping with both mom’s (mine and his), my bridesmaids, and a friend later this month. It’s getting very exciting! I’ve been to two weddings recently (one as recently as yesterday), and it just makes Ray & I not be able to wait for ours. Of course I don’t want it to come too quickly, because I know it will be gone in the blink of an eye. Each day that goes by, I stand firmer in the knowledge that Ray is the one for me. I really can’t believe how everything just came together for us.
I am looking for suggestions of people who can come out to Redlands to perform the following services:
If you know of anyone, please shoot me their info (webpage especially, if they have one).
Photographer – We found someone that we want, but it’s very likely he won’t be available on the day of our wedding. We’ll know for certain in December. So we’re not actively looking for a photographer yet, but are gathering prospects.
Videographer – Until yesterday, I didn’t think I wanted one. My mom would probably be taking some video and that would be enough for us because the pictures are looked at more often than videos. However, I video taped my niece’s wedding for her yesterday and that gave me a different perspective. I want my mom to be able to enjoy partaking in every part of the wedding and not have to worry about trying to capture all the important moments on film. She is the mother of the bride after all. Also, something that I didn’t do for my niece, but that I think would be really neat (it was done at a friend’s wedding years ago), is to have the videographer go around at the reception and ask people to say some words to the bride and groom. We are going to have quite the group of attendees at our wedding. It’s going to be a reunion of friends that haven’t seen each other in 15+ years. There will be family that don’t get to see each other often. And just a plain mingling of of family and friends from all different areas of our lives. I think it would be great to capture as much of that on film as possible, because we know that it’s going to be over before we know it, so it would be nice to be able to play the video and relive it all whenever we want.
Make-up Artist – I’m considering the possibility of going to a make-up counter at a mall on the wedding day (we did that at my brother’s wedding and it worked out beautifully). However, someone I know was just in a wedding and had a make-up artist come to them in San Diego. The price they paid was cheaper than I was expecting for something like that, so now I think that may be a realistic option. It would be ideal to not have to leave the hotel room when getting ready the day of the wedding. The hair dresser will be coming to us. If we can get a make-up artist to come to us as well, we’d be set!
There’s also a few items that I’d rather not purchase if I can help it:
Ring Bearer Pillow
Ring Bearer Pillow – I do have a couple people already who think they may still have theirs, but haven’t found them yet. To me, there’s nothing particular that I need the ring bearer pillow to look like (other than be white), so if I can borrow one instead of having to buy one, that would be very helpful.
Wedding Purse – My understanding is that the wedding purse is primarily used for the money dance. There are different ideas of how to do the money dance – one being the the best man and maid of honor collect the money as people dance with the bride and groom. So a wedding purse is not a “necessity”. However, if someone does have a wedding purse, then that just may come in handy.
Thank you again for all the happiness and encouragement many of you have shared with Ray and I. It really means a lot to us.
