I would mark her e-mail as junk mail and never talk to her again. We all have tones of problems and we wash our laundry privately and quietly biting our lip when necessary.

Most people who can’t afford a wedding, don’t go to a honeymoon and wait until they can have a small wedding. They find ways to save and include as many people as possible into their special day. This person is just off her rocker.

Any updates!?  This thread is cracking me up.

If you haven’t received any more emails from her, I’d be tempted to reply back saying “Do you have any updates yet on the venue?  How is the planning going” to see what reply you get back…

Geez. This is ridiculous. She should have a wedding she can afford. It’s tacky to ask guests to pay for her wedding.

That email was pretty shocking!!! I understand everyone wants a nice wedding, but there are ways to acheive that without asking so openly for donations (which I’m sure makes everyone uncomfortable). Why not have a long engagement in order to save up more money, or have less people?!!? If I were you, I wouldn’t respond and do what others suggested and avoid the wedding!

I saw this on WB’s FB page and had to comment (even though it’s an old thread).

I would personally give a donation of $20 with the guarantees that:

a: You will NOT get a wedding invitation

b: You will continue to be included in all mass emails pertaining to the wedding.

Seriously– the twenty bucks is well worth the entertainment!

My RSVP for this wedding would be NO, with disgust 😉

Shock, appaled, astounded…so many words to describe my reaction to this bride’s e-mails.  It took a while to get through everyone’s comments, but there were so many gems in there…had me giggling.  I don’t know in what world this bride thinks that flat-out asking her “potential” guests for money to help pay for a wedding is something that is normal and de rigeur…maybe on Mars?  A wedding is a celebration of two people coming together, sharing their love for each other and having their most special people with them on that day.  This woman is coming off as selfish, especially after mentioning her recent trip to Hawaii.  I wonder if her fiance was there as she was composing this…if so, he must be just as selfish.  I, like many other who have replied, am interested in knowing if other emails will be sent and if the OP will be responding in any way.  Personally, my fiance and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves (except for my mom, who paid for my dress) and wouldn’t even dare to ask close family to help pay for our big day.  They say the best way to cut down on wedding costs is to slash your guest list…I guess this is the bride’s way of doing just that, lol… :-p

That is crazy! Her e-mails are beyond rude! Why does she think her guests should foot the bill for her 300+ guest wedding? She should stop asking for money, cut down the guest list and just have cake and punch. Getting married outside with a full meal is unnecessary.

@pippyskiddles:  OMG.  This girl needs to check back in with reality.  And where is her mother?? My mom would die of embarrassment if I tried to pull something this rude and tacky.
