I have hair and makeup travelling to us, the total cost is $875, and I put down a deposit of $125. I had my trial, and tipped $60 (was not sure at all how to tip for a trial that had no set price.. my hair and make up is $275, including trial so I just guessed 20% would be ok?).
So, I owe $775 for the remaining balance. There are 2 artists coming. How would you tip each? 20% of the total, times two? Or split the cost in half, assuming each girl “charged” half of the total, and tip 20% of that? Is $100 each enough, or not enough ?

I think the rules state that if the owner is the makeup artist you don’t tip but don’t quote me on that. I had a makeup lady and since she was the owner, I added $20 to the $300 total. She’s the owner but I wanted to tip her so that was my compromise. I’m not sure if it was correct but it’s what felt right.
I think $100 is more than enough for each.

well I just multiplied 775 with 20%, which is close to $150. So I suggest to pay therm $150 each? That is a lot to me. Or go based on your original price. $875 * 20%=175 (minus the $60 for the tip you already contributed, which is $115 each.
Yup. $100 tip is good.

20% is correct. The “owner thing” doesn’t apply to makeup artist. Most of them are freelance. I think I may have heard that with photography though?
