I took my girls out for lunch. I went to hobby lobby & bought small wooden boxes, painted them & put each intial on top. I filled them with necklaces (they were different but similar), miniture alcohol bottles, cute skeleton keys & a sweet note to each of them asking them to be a part of the big day. I set up prior to lunch and had each box set on the table for when they arrived! It was super fun & I even got a few tears haha

Here was my inspiration pic – I tried to order these, but it seems the Etsy shop no longer exists.

So instead, I did some googling and I made my own soy candles, scented with the Capri Blue Volcano scent (the candle that they burn in anthrolopolgie stores). I then broke out some Illustrator skills and made the labels for the candles – I personalized each one with their names, and a different message:

“obviously you’re my maid of honor”; “they say i’ll need someone to hold my dress while i pee”; “i need you to wear an ugly dress so i look prettier in mine”; “i need someone to make sure i don’t ugly cry”; “i can promise you all the free champagne you can drink”

Obviously, these messages were meant jokingly/light-heartedly and not seriously.

All my girls live out of town, so I’m packing them up into cute boxes and mailing them to each one!

I’m planning to do a pretty box with a ring pop inside. It will have a note saying “He popped the question… Now it’s my turn. Will you be my bridesmaid?”

Cute and cheap!

ntoxo:  funny! I used the same boxes! Got them from Michaels though. I lined them with scrap booking paper and put a chalkboard heart on the outside. I filled it with a mini champagne bottle, some truffles, a pair of sunglasses and some blinded by our love pun, then a long note about why I wanted her in my wedding and that the champagne and truffles are for celebrating. I also added a little photo collage  of us together through the years. helped fi make one for his brother and I made one for my sister. We have a tiny wedding party. They loved them.

I got cards from Etsy that read “[NAME] I can’t say I do without you, will you be my [maid of honor/bridesmaid]”. I put those facedown into the envelope and on the top I wrote a note for each girl about how we became friends and why they’re so important to me. They all teared up a bit.

I made boxes for mine as well :] had so much fun with it! I painted the rocks in the wedding colors, gave them each a necklace with their initial, a mini bottle of bubbly, a ‘diamond ring’ keychain, and a personal crystal. I also mailed them each their so it was a surprise 😀 I love giving people gifts and being creative so this was so fun for me!

I bought them all bracelets (MOH got a necklace) with two birds on them. I then wrote them a card that thanked them for flying by my side through life and asked if they would fly along side me for the ride and be my bridesmaids. I took them out to lunch separatly and asked them.

My husband told his sister-in-law when we were all drunk at a party that I had something to ask her… I am guessing this isn’t the cute idea you were looking for. XD

k_girl3:

I asked on the phone. No fanfare, no fluff.

The “be my valentine” cards and treats readily available right now make me wonder if that might be fun, and cheap, to just take a sharpie and write “bridesmaid” on top of “valentine” and give that to them?

I love the ring pop idea from above. 🙂

I got these inexpensive bracelets on amazon and attached a little tag with a question.
