I had one done in March and it was easy peasy.

The only part that hurt was when the put the speculum in. Ask your dr. to put some lube on that sucker. After that, it was in and out in like 5 minutes.

@Ryansgirl:  I had an HSG. That’s the one where they inject dye into your fallopian tubes to check that there are no blockages anywhere, right? I had a couple of similar tests; I get them confused at this point.

Anyway, if it was that one, it is not a big deal at all. I arrived at the testing center having no clue what the procedure would be like. I remember being thrown by all the x-ray equipment, because I didn’t realize it was going to be an x-ray.

I got changed into a hospital gown and little booties, went into the room, and they aimed the x-ray at my groin. They inserted a catheter into my uterus and injected the dye. It went right through on one side and didn’t hurt at all. On the other side, the doctor had trouble connecting the catheter, and so he had to try a few times. That side hurt a bit — it felt like really bad menstrual cramps. But it was all over very quickly, and they were able to tell me the results on the spot. I was sore afterward from the one wonky side and wished I had taken the day off work, but I didn’t.

Anyway, don’t be nervous — I just wish I had known what to expect beforehand. I literally had no clue what the procedure was like at all. Good luck.

@Ryansgirl:  I had it done in February.  To be honest, I cannot tolerate pain, so it hurt like hell and I was sore for a couple of days.  A lot of bees fell nothing and some, like myself, had some soreness afterwards.  GL and hopefully is a walk in the park for you, dear! 🙂

@Ryansgirl:  I had one done in Nov, and I won’t lie, mine hurt too!  The couldn’t get the catheter through my cervix, so they had to clamp my cervix and force it through.  The pain didn’t last long, maybe 2min or so (which felt like an eterninty then), but it was uncomfortable the whole time.  I did have some cramping the remainder of the day as well.  My dr recommended I take 2 Tylenol before I came in, and I would definitely suggest that.  Good Luck!

I had mine a few years ago and it wasn’t bad.  It was slightly uncomfortable, but not unbearable.  I was advised to take a few ibuprofin before and I feel like that really helped.  I didn’t even have to change into a gown or anything.  I just took my pants and undies off.  It was fairly quick and over in no time at all.
