For those who don’t know, I posted about a friend of mine who was really struggling with being a single mom. She had nowhere to live (aside from a friend’s couch whch was temporary) and the baby’s dad wasn’t helping at all. She couldn’t work since she couldn’t get childcare and her son has had multiple health issues.
You Bees came to the rescue! She registered on walmart.com and you all got them $1,300 worth of items and gift cards!!! Yes, crazy, I know.
Well, I have a huge update! @LadyBear: asked if Ashley had tried 211 in New Husband. She had not. Ashley had never heard of it. She called them and they couldn’t help her, but the woman who answered the phone gave my friend someone else’s number. That agency was closing but they gave her the number to the Front Door Agency in Nashua, New Husband.
Ashley called them and got housing! The crazy part is she was only able to get it because of all the stuff you all got her on walmart.com! She needed $700 to move in. She was getting $480 a month in cash benefits. Since you all got her so many essential items, she had $900 in her bank account from her tax return and some cash benefits she had been able to save. Thanks to you Bees, she had the money to move in!
Now she and Gabe live in Nashua. They are in two rooms that are connected with a small bathroom with a toilet and sink. There is a community kitchen, shower and laundry area. It costs $350 a month. In the next 3-6 months, she’ll get a 2 bedroom apartment, also for $350 a month!
Thank you so much Bees. If it hadn’t been for you, she wouldn’t have had the money to move in. If it hadn’t been for @LadyBear:, she never would have found out about this place in Nashua. You have all changed the course of she and Gabe’s lives.
Here are some pics of Gabe in one of his new outfits in his awesome new highchair! Ashley just took these today.
Gabe is very happy because for the first time in his life, he has his own room!
If you know of anyone in New Husband or nearby, the Front Door Agency in Nashua has 2 or 3 openings for needy moms.
