You’re not alone! I have NO idea! If I were you I would ask my seamstress about it when you go and see her next… she’ll know ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s all about how full you want your dress. The more hoops, the bigger it will be. It sounds like you may not want/need one if you’re already having your dress altered. They are another form of a petticoat.

2 hoops will give a fuller, more structured look as there is hoops more of the way down, whereas a single hoop is just one hoop, so it gives less structure. It all depends how “poofy” you want your dress to look.

PS- your dress is GORGEOUS! Is it pink or is that just the light (or my really poor eyesight?)

Beautiful dress. For a skirt like that, you’lll want medium fullness. I’m not as familiar with hoops as with petticoats that use tulle, but if you do a modified A-line that will show the detailwork the best. I worked in bridal for 2 years, and with that skirt, I wouldn’t be inclined to go much bigger than Modified A.  All bridal shops should sell petticoats or hoops, did you use one when you tried it on to purchase?

Beautiful gown.

I would wait until your alterations are done to see if you want more fullness.

A modified A just means it’s an A-line skirt that isn’t as full. It still flares from the top of the hip but it isn’t a massively large skirt. You should be able to ask for it without anybody at a bridal store being confused. You can always call it a slim cut A line, fuller than a trumpet but not quite an A-line. Hope that helps.

Ooo I love Hobnob. I live really close to it and always turn my head when I drive past it. One of these days there will be a car accident!!

Yeah I have been into Studio Collections many a time. I actually think I willl look in there first for my wedding dress, because I am going for a more Casual look for my wedding. As soon as the ring is on my finger I will definitely be stepping foot in there. I just feel a little odd doing it without the ring, even though we have picked the date and venue.
