Wedding Date: September 4, 2011

Engagement Length:  16 months

Colors: Cobalt Blue, Apple Green, Ivory, plus light touches of pink

Started from this inspiration photo (actually navy and lime) and worked outwards:

Theme: I guess there was a slight penguin theme going on.  Penguins are my favorite animal!  But mainly just colors! πŸ™‚

We had a friend read from a children’s book called “Your Personal Penguin”. πŸ™‚

Wedding Party(#s): 6 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen + 6th groomsman as our officiant

Ceremony: Outdoor wedding at a local golf club

Reception: Same Golf Club mentioned above! πŸ™‚

Dress Style: Anjolique 1020, Fit and Flare

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both – done at our wedding night hotel, rented out the conference room!

Honeymoon Location: Thailand – Koh Phangan and Koh Samui!

Flowers: Orchids, lilies, and some others that have escaped my memory. πŸ™‚

First Dance Song: Ronan Keating’s When You Say Nothing at All

Centerpieces: Potted Orchid Plants with Manzanita Branches.  We had tall and short ones:

Food/Menu: Golf club’s signature salad, Duet plate of Pesto Sea Bass with Sun Dried Tomato Cream Sauce and an Aged New York Steak with a wild mushroom sauce.  Completed with Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables. Menu provided by our venue.

Cake Flavour: “Choco Razz” – Chocolate Raspberry. πŸ™‚

Favours: Teacups with Tea Forte Infuser and candy

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ

Bachelorette (when/what): August 2011, just a night out for mani/pedis and dinner with my girls. πŸ™‚

Engagement Length: 8 months! (at the date of the wedding)

Colors: Not technically doing colors – (we’re opposites!) but we do have a palette…

Theme: Vintage/Farm/Rustic

Invitations: Rifle Paper rip-off!!! I *love* them!!! 

Wedding Party(#s): 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, 4 flower girls

Bridesmaid Dresses/Outfits: Unmatching floral! They will be in pearls and Cowboy boots.

Ceremony: In a Hayfield (by ‘the pines’) on his parents farm

Reception: Same hayfield – about 100 meters away (in a tent)

Dress Style: Galina Lace with a DIY yellow/rhinstone sash

Shoes:

Jewelry: Simple set of pearls with sweet pearl drop earrings

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both – coming to the farm

Groom and G-men outfits: All in Khaki pants and vests with a white shirt and unmatching ties

Honeymoon Location: Ireland – but will be next year

Flowers: See the color palette – those are it πŸ™‚ Green Hydrangea, yellow gerbera, white roses, purple/blue larkspur

Your Aisle Song: It’s this cello cover of ‘A thousand Years’ by Christina Perri

First Dance Song: *Really* wanna do ‘I wanna grow old with you’ by Adam Sandler

Food/Menu: Will be buffet – lemon chicken and ribs? I don’t remember now…

Cake Flavour: Red velvet for the small ‘cut cake’, angel food or sponge for the big guest cake – then there will be a small orange one, a lemon and a blueberry on a dessert table. But this is the big cake:

Favours: Jam – half of the 200 made by me and his grandma and the other half by me and my mom.

Centerpieces: Antiques! and none of them match!

DJ/Band/Ipod: I have a guy setting up the audio/disco ball/PA system – my sister will emcee but the music will all be on a laptop.

Bachelorette (when/what): They. Won’t. Tell. Me. I know I need a LBD and it will be after Aug 1st. That’s all I get for now :l

Showers: Two – one on June 1st for his fam then one after Aug 1st for my fam and all my b-maids πŸ™‚

Wedding Party(#s): MOH, 3 BMs, Best Man, 3-4 GMs (depending on a whole other issue entirely)

Ceremony: local park’s amphitheatre

Reception: loft space downtown

Dress Style: chiffon sheath by Venus Bridals

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DIY): Pro for both, the salon is blocking off three hours for us to have it to ourselves

Honeymoon Location: Not sure yet, but I’m thinking Caribbean cruise

Flowers: No idea, probably pick up some roses at a flower market

First Dance Song: “Timeless” – The Airborne Toxic Event

Centerpieces: matte black wine bottles, black runners, gold table numbers, milk glass, votive holders in golds 

Food/Menu: Chicken marsala, baked stuffed shells, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, spring salad

Cake Flavour: Vanilla cupcake with strawberry buttercream, chocolate cupcake with raspberry filling and whipped cream frosting, s’mores bar

Honeymoon Location: We HOPE to Belize for 5 days, if we don’t have enough money, our backup is a friend’s timeshare in Hawaii for 5 days, second backup is finding a sweet deal to a Sandals resort, maybe in St. Lucia, again for 5 days

Flowers: No real flowers! We are making our bouquets out of origami and the centerpieces will be faux flowers – they’re drowned in water anyway. Wink

Ceremony- On the beach on the Gulf Coast of Florida

Reception- Sandbar Restaurant

Dress:

My ribbon will be blue

Shoes: barefoot!

Jewelry: Diamond pendant necklace my mom gave me when I was 18 and a pair of blue topaz and diamond earrings

Hair/Makeup- My sister is great at both, so she will be doing it since its Destination Wedding

Honeymoon location: Spending a week in Florida at our Destination Wedding location, then going on a cruise to Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk

Flowers- White lilies and Blue bombay orchids

First Dance- Sade-by your side

Centerpieces- White lanterns, with sand inside and an aqua colored candle

Food/Menu: Cocktail hour= crab fritters, bruschetta, shrimp cocktail and a fruit and cheese tree (yes tree). Dinner= island salad, prime rib, mahi mahi with lemon butter sauce, pineapple grilled chicken and roasted red potatoes

Cake- Our baker specializes in cheesecake so our first tier will have cheesecake and cake layered together, it will be chocolate cake and oreo cheesecake. The second tier will be white cake and third tier will have mixed berry cheesecake

Favours- A box with four caramels in it, each one different. They are so good, I am so excited to eat them again!

DJ/Band/Ipod- My DJ plays island music on his guitar, so he will be playing live music during the ceremony, then DJ’ing the rest of the night

Bachelorette- Probably something with all of our friends where we just go out and get dinner/drinks. My only bridesmaid isn’t 21 and his brother is his groomsman and is 17, so no one to really plan anything crazy lol

Ceremony: Outside and beachfront in Newport, RI

Reception: Beachfront ballroom in Newport, RI

Dress Style: Not decided

Groom & Groomsmen: Summer-weight tan suits, white shirts, coral or orange ties

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both

Flowers: Robin Hollow Farm – locally grown and sustainable florist (dahlias will take centerstage!)

First Dance Song: Not sure yet

Centerpieces: Lush, green botanical centerpieces with light floral details

Food/Menu: 5 passed hot hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktail, sirloin steak or seared scallops and 5 hour premium open bar

Cake Flavour: Still figuring the cake out… probably a modest 3-tier cake on a pretty pedestal with sheets in back. FH wants vanilla or white cake – booooooring.

Favours: Photobooth and maybe something else… ack! Gelato bar, candy bar or roaming Candy Girl perhaps… Not sure.

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ

Bachelorette (when/what): Again, not sure. The boys are going sport fishing or to Vegas. The girls? TBD.

Shower: Undecided if I want one. If my mom wants one, I’ll do it but try to keep it small.

Colors: Gray, orange and red accents

Theme: Rustic fall

Wedding Party #’s: 5 BM/ 5 GM/ 2 JBM/ 2 JGM/ 1 FG/ 1 Ring Bearer

Ceremony: Rotary Reserve State Park

Reception: Same venue only indoors

Dress style: Maggie Sottero Alana

Hair/Make-up (Pro/DIY): Pro my uncle is a hair dresser, my cousin is a make-up artist

Honeymoon Location: Belize, South America

Flowers: Red Dahlias, Orange Coxcomb, Red Kangaroo Paws, Orange Pin Cushions, curly willow, wheat, monkey tails, bunny tails and Red Sunflowers (lots of texture).  These are my inspiration bouquets:

First Dance Song: Not sure yet.  I would love to do a choreographed waltz to A Thousand Years by Christina Perry.  Fiance is against learning a professional dance.

Centerpieces: Mason jars, candles, small pumpkins

Food/Menu: Not sure but probably simple, roast beef or chicken, garlic potatos, salad, fruit, rolls etc

Cake Flavor: Fiance wants vanilla with a rasberry swirl for our tier, each tier will be a different flavor.  Not sure if we will do cake pops or a cake but these are my inspiration:


I love the rustic, simplicity of this one.  Just buttercream on a cake.  Nothing fancy or spectacular but it still manages to look elegant and wedding like.


I love that we wouldn’t have to make extra sheet cakes, each guest can pick their cake pop, Fiance and I can choose which flavor we each want for our “cake cutting” and less mess.

Favors: My great grandmothers recipe of home-made jam

DJ/Band/IPOD:DJ

Bachelorette Party (when/where): I’ll do this about 2-3 weeks before the wedding and planning on going to a nearby city for a Pole Dancing class and then bar hopping.

Honeymoon Location: Fiesta American Condesa Cancun, 6 days 5 nights

Flowers: Fake flowers, done by friend

First Dance Song: Love of a Lifetime — Firehouse

Centerpieces: Tables were named, not numbered. The names all were things important to us.

Food/Menu: Cocktail hour with assorted apps. Dinner was salad, rolls, grilled marinated chicken, roastbeef, broccoli with cheese, redskin potatoes, rigatoni

Cake Flavour: Several different flavors, 3 tiers. Large dessert table

Favours: 

DJ/Band/Ipod: 1980’s hairmetal coverband band (played music by Bon Jovi, Poison, Motely Crue etc) and we had a DJ

Bachelorette (when/what): Dinner & drinks at a local restaurant, then we went back to my house for the limo to pick us up and we went downtown for more drinks & dancing

@Pinkmoon:  It’s supposed to be the largest sink hole in the ocean.  Its one of my favorite pictures ever.  I can’t wait to visit.  It’s 1,000 feet round in diameter and 400 feet deep.
