What an amazing book! If it weren’t through word of mouth I never would have ventured into the Young Adult section of Barnes & Noble. And I definitely would not have picked up The Hunger Games based on the cover or description. But I am so glad I did. It’s a real page turner, so go check it out!

Agreed! WB readers recommended it to me and I absolutely love the trilogy. Such a great read.

It’s the best! And they are filming the first movie right now in Asheville, NC! I am so jealous. There is also a Hunger Games facebook page where you can learn about all the actors they are casting.
I swear, I’m not a nerd.

I loved all 3 of them! I read them all like right in a row, I just wanted to know how it ended! I don’t think Jennifer Lawrence was a great choice for Katniss in the movie though.

They’re making a movie and I can’t wait! I think the actors they chose fit really well and I think it’ll be a really interesting movie even for people who havne’t read the book….seems to me it will be a little Golden Compass-ish…kind of dark but artsy. I have only read the first novel but I hear the whole series is good.

I’m almost done with the last book in the trilogy.
Read them all back to back. Started the trilogy less than 1 month ago and will probably finish today.
I have no idea what I will do once I’m done with the last book!

I opened this thread thinking it was going to be a diet thread – like this is how I convince myself I don’t really want ice cream…but then I googled the books and the sound interesting! Ordering them online right now!

@JerseyGirlLaur: Have you seen the pictures of Jennifer Lawrence in Entertainment Weekly? I thought they did a great job of making her look the part, which seems to be the major concern people have about her being cast.

I’m excited to start the second book tonight. Maybe a little too excited, like I won’t go to bed until I finish reading it excited. I hope the movie is half as good as the book. And I have to say I think Jennifer Lawrence is a good choice.

Such a great series! I read the last book in 2 days, I just couldn’t but it down and then I was disappointed there wasn’t more to read. I’m really excited about the movie, the casting looks really good.

So good! I think I read each of them in less than a day each, because I just couldn’t stop! Once you get past that they really young adult novels, the story is so gripping!

I introduced the first book to a group of my sixth graders as a guided reading book….They got mad at me when I told them they couldn’t read ahead haha. They then got the whole class hooked on them. I’ve never seen any group of kids so anxious for the next book to be passed down to them.
I actually had the series recommended to me by one of my sixth graders last year at a different school…I’m on my third or fourth reread of the trilogy

@sparkle: HAHA that cracked me up!
Count me in as a huge fan! I resisted them for so long because of the “young adult” label, but once I saw all the positive ratings for each book, I took the bait. And wow, I loved them! All 3. Just sorry I didn’t get into them sooner!

Love these books…not sure about the movie or if I’ll go see it though
