Have you ever been super duper hungry all the time, I mean tummy rumbling even though you’re eating regular nutritious meals? I literally lie in bed at night starving even though we had a healthy supper. This is new to me and very strange! I have an underactive thyroid (meds are good level) so I’m sure that’s playing a part in it. I’ve added a poll to get an idea of why I’ve been like this the last few weeks! Thank you!

Tisa85: perhaps instead of a poll you should consult a doctor?

How much are you actually eating? I have no idea what your diet is like, but a lot of people (women especially) are undereating (even healthy food) because we are told that 1200 calories is acceptable and even encouraged for weight loss and health. In reality, that’s not sustainable in the slightest and you’ll be hungry all the time.
I just started a new job and have found myself starving at 10:30 after eating breakfast two hours earlier…I’m attributing it to 1) using my brain to learn a TON of information after not doing much for about two months after graduating and 2) not sleeping enough/well. Regardless of how much I eat, if I haven’t slept well I find it difficult to feel full, especially after a few days of poor sleep.
But thyroid issues and everything else you mentioned can definitely play a role too. If you can’t manage it, 1) eat more food and/or 2) go see a doctor if you feel like you really can’t pin it down.

MrsAKSkier: wanted to add in my original post that I’ll be going to the GP next week but don’t think it worked!

Tisa85: how many calories are you taking in versus how many you’re burning on average? Are you getting enough protein. Protein is what will keep you feeling full.

(I’m not a doctor BUT) Your body may overproduce the hunger hormone ghrelin…

Tisa85: I’m experiencing the same thing, my stomach is constantly grumblimg. My GP ordered bloodd to check my thyroid, but I’m late for my period so it could also be pregnancy!? I guess I’ll find out soon enough. I hope you find the cause too 🙂

Tisa85: I’ve been experiencing this for the first time as well the last few weeks. I’ve been assuming it’s a case of nerves about my steady job ending and freelancing combined with feeling deprived in other areas of life because finances are causing me to put some fun plans on hold 🙁

How much proteins are you eating? You may not be eating enough to keep your body satisfied.

Thank you bees! I may start monitoring how much protein I eat.
littlechickie: I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this, I think you’re right about stress levels affecting appetite. I’ve also been juggling too much lately.
