Any Hunter Rain Boot owners out there? I’m about to purchase the Tall Original online and am stumpted between the gloss and the original/matte finish. I know if I were looking at them in person, I could make up my mind, but I’m flip flopping!
Any input from those that are familiar with them?
Any benefit to one finish over the other from a weather/wearability standpoint?
Also curious how they wear (from a scuff/scratch standpoint)
Thanks in advance!

Mine are the glossy finish, but after wearing them in the rain and snow just a few times, they started to look matte. Either way you go, they’re great boots! I’ve had mine for 2 years and other than the dulling of the gloss, they don’t seem to have any scratches or scuffs.

I have a pair of glossy and a pair of matte. The matte hides the dirt/sludge so much better than the glossy, so I say matte!

ooh, super interesting! I thought glossy would be the way to go!
If it matters, I’ll be wearing them primarily in the rain to walk the dog. Not so much in a lot of mud and no snow.
Keep the input coming! I’m adding a poll 🙂

Hunters are made of natural latex rubber, which means they often get a white, chalky “dust” on them. It’s called bloom and totally natural. My tall, glossy wedge boots look like shit and need constant cleaning. (Also: What was I thinking buying WEDGE rain boots? So dumb) My tall original boots do not.

I personally would get matte because the glossy ones look so rain-booty (like a rubber ducky) and I would wear them in snow. But since you’re primarily wearing them in the rain, maybe that wouldn’t be a consideration for you. I just think the glossy ones remind me of galoshes and bright yellow rain jackets more, whereas the matte are more fashionable IMO.

We sell Hunter’s at the store where I work. When people ask me this question I recommend they go with the matte finish because the glossy boots end up becoming matte anyways as you wear them. Our display boots lose their shine after several months of being handled until they look the same as the matte boots. There should be no difference in the wearability.

Make sure you get the warm inserts!! Makes cold snow days a tab bit more bearable!!

I love the glossy- just bought some today:) I know the matte is more popular, but to me, the glossy looks a bit dressier and the matte is more like a gardening boot.
