Pintrest has finally brought out a feature which allows you to hide certain boards from everyone else. They are calling them “secret boards”.
You can only have three and I haven’t yet figured out a way to convert an old board into a secret one, but oh well!
Now I can finally pin wedding things without all of my single, judgy friends looking at them and thinking that I’m crazy.
Thought you should all know!
I heard about this earlier today… with another WBee posting.
Sounds like it will be a great feature for the WAITING Bees and the TTC gals.
PS… I’m still trying to figure out if I want a Pinterest Account… having only heard about this Website since joining WBee.
My concerns is can one ONLY have an account if they are willing to give up their privacy by providing their RL Name and Email Address. I’m not that keen to do this… have that info right out for all to see. I much prefer Websites that are structured like WBee where everyone has a User Name and their personal info (contact info etc) isn’t front & center.
Does anyone happen to have any insight on HOW Pinterest is organized… can I create an account say as THIS TIME ROUND ? Any info / help much appreciated !!

@This Time Round:
Oh yeah, it would be great for those you are TTC but don’t want to announce that to the world yet.
I hope it’s ok that I created another board, hopefully it will help those who only go on the waiting board.
I’m 90% sure that even though you use FB or Twitter to sign into Pintrest, that this information doesn’t have to be public and that you can create a user name etc similar to WB.
It’s just to make it easier to log into so that you don’t have to create yet another account name and password. Most websites will probably start to go this route, having a universal log in but different display info.

@This Time Round: I created my pinterest account quite some time ago, and was able to do it just with email (and used my spam/dummy email so it’s not one that anybody I know IRL would think to search by if it automatically searches for contacts in your address book or something) and my firstname lastinitial as my user name. Not sure you can do a true user name.

I set up a separate email and called myself ‘Wedding Ideas’ haha- you don’t have to use your personal info!

I set up a fake Twitter account and have a secret one. I’ve been pinning wedding and baby shit for a year. 🙂

I make a whole email account dedicated to spam and Pinterest!

I also have created an account with an unused email and have been secretly pinning wedding stuff for the past few months! It would be too tedious to move all those pins to my “real” account… But still awesome news! I’m sure I’ll be using it for other things in the future!

Let me know when you figure out how to convert an old one to a private one!! HAHA

I used my 3 secret boards to pin gift ideas for my sister, parents and SO. I could not possibly care less who sees my wedding and baby boards! Ha!
Though I have to admit refraining from creating those boards until I was positive he’d ordered the ring. So I get it.

As soon as I saw a post about this I went over to Pinterest and set up my 3 secret boards 🙂

Thank you ladies, I now have my Pinterest Account up and running… altho it looks like it will take me a bit of time (practice) to truly understand how it all works… and WHAT exactly it can do for me.
Should be of great benefit tho with my Wedding Plans, and the Home Reno that Mr TTR and I have planned / underway.
Again, thanks for all your help !!
“Hive really appreciate it” 😉 *wink*

lol I am disappointed that you can’t change an existing board to a secret board but I’ll live lol

Thanks for the info I started my secret boards today didn’t realize how public pinterest was and that all my facebook friends could access it by just looking up my name. I’m pretty new to pinterest and didn’t completely understood how it worked, thanks for the heads up
